Sherwood Forest 2025

A Wild Day on the Fairways: Golf Day at Sherwood Forest Golf Club

Despite battling nature’s fiercest moods, this year's Golf Day at the historic Sherwood Forest Golf Club proved to be an unforgettable mix of grit, laughter, and glorious sunshine (eventually).

A Storied Setting

Founded in 1895 and steeped in character, Sherwood Forest Golf Club is one of England’s most cherished inland courses. Set amidst the legendary woodland once roamed by Robin Hood, this traditional heathland layout is consistently ranked among the UK’s top 100 courses. Its rolling fairways, punishing rough, and subtle greens have tested generations of golfers — and today was no different.

A Game of Two Halves (Weather-Wise)

The day began with howling winds reaching 40 mph and relentless horizontal rain, turning umbrellas inside out and fairways into mini rivers. Players dug deep, showcasing not only their skill but also their sense of humour and resilience. Fortunately, as the afternoon wore on, the skies relented, and brilliant sunshine broke through — rewarding those who braved the elements with a stunning end to the day.
