Royal Cinque Ports Autumn 2025
Royal Cinque Ports, often referred to as "Deal," is a classic championship links with a storied history, including hosting The Open Championship in the early 1900s.
The course is renowned for its undulating fairways, deep revetted bunkers, and fast,
sloping greens that demand precision and creativity.
The stretch from holes 12 to 16 is particularly memorable, known for turning solid
rounds into survival tests when the wind picks up — which it certainly did during this
event. The closing holes offer a thrilling finish, especially the par-5 16th, which
tempts risk-reward decisions with out-of-bounds lurking.
In true links fashion, every hole played differently in the swirling wind, testing every
club in the bag and every shot in the playbook.
It was a true links golf test, with strong coastal winds into off the first and the back 6
holes, combined with several heavy downpours that added an extra layer of difficulty.
Players had to battle both the elements and the layout to score well.
Despite the testing conditions, the field put on an excellent display of resilience and
ball-striking, with several pairs navigating the wind and rain impressively. The
leaderboard remained tight throughout, but one pair forced their way to the top
amassing an amazing 22 points over the final 7 holes, a remarkable performance.
