Hindhead 2025
Hindhead: A Glorious Day on the Surrey Hills at the Magnificent Hindhead Golf Club
What an unforgettable day it has been at Hindhead Golf Club! The sun was blazing, the course was in superb condition, and golfers were treated to an unforgettable experience on one of the most picturesque courses in the UK.
Hindhead Golf Club has long been a hidden gem, offering both exceptional golf course design and stunning natural surroundings. Founded in 1904 by a group of passionate golf enthusiasts—including the famous Sir Arthur Conan Doyle—Hindhead is a true testament to both the game and the beautiful landscape of the Surrey Hills.
The course is set in the stunning Devil's Punchbowl, a large hollow of dry, sandy heath, and is surrounded by Gibbet Hill, the second-highest hill in Surrey. The front nine holes weave through Ice Age valleys, with heather-strewn landscapes, while the back nine takes players across a beautiful heathland plateau with incredible views that seem to go on forever. The entire setting is nothing short of breathtaking!
Course Highlights:
Hindhead is one of Britain’s finest heathland courses, and it did not disappoint. From the very first hole near the Clubhouse and Pro Shop to the finish on the 18th green, which sits just a few feet from the Clubhouse patio, the course delivered exceptional play and unforgettable views. The first nine holes are particularly dramatic, with memorable shots through valleys that make it a must-play for any golfer.
The back nine offers its own distinct challenges, with each hole working its way up and down the hillside, offering players different dynamics that keep the game interesting and exciting. It’s a truly stunning and memorable golf experience.
Tournament Highlights:
Despite the fantastic weather, the firm and fast conditions of the course created a bunched leaderboard, making for an exciting finish. The competition was fierce, but after a dramatic countback, our winners of the day were Barnaby Chamberlain and Andrew Huxham, who both finished with an outstanding 45 points. Well played, gentlemen!
