What an incredible three days of golf it has been at some of the finest courses in Wales! From the historic Aberdovey Golf Club to the stunning Royal St David’s and the breathtaking Nefyn Golf Club, each day brought something unique and exciting. Here’s a recap of the highlights from this fantastic event:
Day 1 – Aberdovey Golf Club
Course Highlights:
Founded in 1892, Aberdovey Golf Club is a championship links course located in the picturesque town of Aberdovey, Wales. Set within the stunning Snowdonia National Park and at the mouth of the Dovey Estuary, it offers spectacular views of the Cambrian Mountains and the rugged coastline. With a mix of tight lies, undulating approaches, and fast greens, it provides a true test of golfing skill.
Weather Conditions:
The day started with beautiful sunshine, creating the perfect environment for golf. By midday, the wind picked up, challenging players, but it didn’t dampen spirits.
Memorable Moments:
The Best Dressed award went to Matthew Cody, who sported a bold Welsh Dragons t-shirt! On the course, Richard Foster & Liam Thompson kicked off the event with an impressive 45 points, setting the pace for the tournament.

Day 2 – Royal St David’s Golf Club
Course Highlights:
Royal St David’s, established in 1894, is one of the most distinguished links courses in Wales. Set beneath the majestic Harlech Castle, this challenging par 69 course features undulating fairways, deep bunkers, and fast, true greens. The course is recognized as one of the finest in the world and has a rich history in Welsh golf.
Weather Conditions:
At 20°C and with glorious sunshine, the weather was perfect for a day of links golf. The breeze picked up slightly in the afternoon, but it was still well under 15 mph, making for enjoyable conditions.
Memorable Moments:
Wendy George and Paul Brown both hit remarkable shots on Hole 4 and Hole 9, getting their balls within 2 feet of the pins, which earned them special mention for Nearest the Pin.

Day 3 – Nefyn Golf Club
Course Highlights:
Founded in 1907, Nefyn Golf Club is renowned for its unique layout and stunning beauty. The course is famous for its three distinct 9-hole loops, including the signature Point Course, which features the 4th hole, a 411-yard par 4 with a 240-yard carry over the bay, and the 7th hole, a par 3 played over a pothole that fills at high tide.
Weather Conditions:
The conditions were more challenging on Day 3, with the temperature dipping to 13°C and gusts of wind reaching up to 22 mph—classic links golf weather!
Memorable Moments:
Thomas Martin wowed everyone with a Nearest the Pin shot on Hole 11, landing his ball just 45 cm from the flag. He also had another impressive “2” on Hole 9, proving his accuracy and skill.

Stuart Heathcock made an eagle 2 on Hole 13 with a remarkable second shot.

The Wales ARN Loop 3 Days Golf Pairs Event was nothing short of spectacular. We had great weather, amazing golf, and some unforgettable moments across some of the finest golf courses in Wales. Huge congratulations to our winners and thanks to all participants for their fantastic sportsmanship.
