Aberystwyth Scramble 2025

Clwb Golff Aberystwyth Event Recap: A Day of Challenges and Memorable Moments

What a fantastic day it was at Clwb Golff Aberystwyth, where the players faced both a challenging course and changing weather conditions, yet still managed to put on an incredible display of golfing talent. The 18-hole, par-70 course, designed by six-time Open Champion Harry Vardon in 1911, proved to be a worthy test for all who took part. Let’s take a closer look at the day’s highlights!

Course Highlights:

Clwb Golff Aberystwyth is a course rich in history and challenge. The standout hole of the day was the 4th, a par-4 that descends into a valley and then ascends to a green located at the course’s highest point. This hole offers golfers not only a physical challenge but also stunning views, making it both a literal and visual high point of the course.

Weather Conditions:

The day started with blue skies, perfect for golfing. However, by midday, the wind picked up, adding an extra challenge to the course and making scoring a bit trickier for the competitors. Despite the gusts, players continued to show their resilience and skill.

Memorable Moments:

There were plenty of memorable moments out on the course today, but one that stood out was The Dean Owen Team, who pulled off a brilliant eagle 2 on the par-4 17th hole. They managed to drive the green and hole the putt, a remarkable achievement that secured them the 2’s competition prize. What a fantastic feat!

Tournament Highlights:

The competition was fierce, with 3 teams shooting impressive gross 60s. But it was the nett competition that truly kept everyone on edge. The contest came down to the final hole, where the Aaron Butler team finished with a bogey 4, and the Jonathan Davies team made a birdie 2, clinching the win by just 0.5 strokes.
