Wales 3 Day - Day 3 Nefyn - 28th April 2023

We were at Nefyn golf club today.

This is one fun golf course with spectacular views and a very welcoming reception.

There are 3 nines here and we played the main course and were given the option of the old course as an extra.

The course was in full links mode but with winds running at around 10mph plus the greens were running quick.

The views were absolutely spectacular by the afternoon.

The main course is a full championship level course running at around 3300 yards and the old course is a shorty at around 2600 but the 2600 doesn't begin to tell the story particularly if the wind is blowing.

No matter, the views are spectacular and the par 3s are all scenic and challenging.

When you turn into the wind on 6-9 on the new Course you will feel the full challenge of links golf. And, it's way cheaper than comparable Scottish and Irish links courses and is off the tourist track.

The pro shop run by the Froom father (John) and son (Tom) could not have been more welcoming. Just a great day all around.

The day started cloudy and chilly. It quickly changed into a hazy sun and low heat!! The players loved it!!

Players reasons for playing today:

– “A championship-level links that is still very playable”

– “The wonderful par-3 11th with its elevated green and surrounding bunkers”

– “The gorgeous views”

Shot of the day has to be Lee Wilson on the 9th, he landed it to 7 ft.

Wayne King who hit a smashing shot on 11th to make a par! He hit it to 2ft.

Shoutout to Julia Mountfield who won Longest drive for Ladies on the 6th hole with a whopping shot down the middle!👏🏼
