Trentham - 22nd April 2024

Well, well, well, what do we have here? Rain! Surprise, surprise!

Despite the damp start, the eager early starters, among a field of 172, bravely teed off under the light drizzle. However, those with later tee times anticipated better weather post-noon. Alas, the rain persisted throughout the day, proving to be an unwelcome companion on the course.

Nevertheless, despite the challenging weather conditions, the course held its own admirably, allowing for some impressive scores to be recorded by determined golfers.

In the midst of the rain, Martin Wallbanks managed to secure the Nearest the Pin title on the 7th hole, landing his shot just 5 feet away from the pin.

The battle for the Longest Drive title on the 18th hole saw Adam Johnson emerge victorious among the men, although his divot suggested a bit of a struggle with the second shot. Meanwhile, Karen Williamson showcased a stunning drive to claim the title among the ladies.

A standout performance was delivered by Kyle Stubbs and Martyn Salt, who defied the elements to secure a remarkable score of 45 points, deserving a round of applause.

Other notable scores included 42, 41, and several 40s, demonstrating the resilience and skill of the participants.

The Best Gross honor was claimed by the dynamic duo of Lee Ramsden and Darren Kirton, who posted an impressive better ball score of 38 points, finishing one under gross.

Additionally, four lucky players scored a two, each winning £80 in vouchers for future rounds. Congratulations to E. Graham, K. Adams, A. Fau-Goodwin, and A. Kinvig on their achievement.

Despite the challenging conditions, golfers displayed commendable speed of play, with the last group finishing in 4 hours and 40 minutes. It was indeed a wet and dreary day, but the spirit of the game prevailed, albeit with a fair amount of ball searching along the way.
