The Oxfordshire finals day - Thursday 20th October
The Oxfordshire is widely regarded to be one of the most exciting courses in the country.
We host the biggest event of all the FINALS days for our par 3 winners this season.
Previous host venue to major tournaments such as the Benson & Hedges International, Andersen Consulting World Championship and Ladies English Open.
Recent accolades include, top 50 places to Stay & Play voted by Golf Monthly magazine, Top Golf Course in the country voted by the Top 100 Golf Courses.
We had 2 days of action with 4 holidays to give away and loads of other prizes too, including putters, golf bags, vouchers and a beat the pro prize with our new recruit Scott.
Day one saw some wet weather but some receptive greens and a slightly shortened winter course off the yellow tees meant for some amazing scoring!
David Wilson a 4 handicapper was -7 gross through 15 holes!! David finished with 3 bogeys so has a cracking score of -4.
Andrew and Ashley managed 24 out and 26 points coming in to reach the magic total of 50 points and that secured the overall holiday prize on day one.
The best-dressed golfers on day one were 2 lovely ladies, Tracey and Julie.
It seemed a day for the David’s as David Mccolgan was a centimetre from a HIO on the 5th hole. A beautiful par 3 over the after.
Following the David theme, David Thickett won the nearest the pin on the 15th.
Day two soon came around and another busy day and another 2 holidays are up for grabs!
A brighter start than Thursday but the rain and wind swept in throughout the afternoon which meant extremely tough playing conditions, especially for the afternoon starters.
Day two best dressed was an easy prize to give out with the winner been Alec fletcher who looked like he had just landed from Hawaii!
The nearest pin on the second and the ladies longest drive were both won by Helen Marriott! Well done Helen, what a way to finish the season.
Longest drive for the men was won by Mark Sidebottom who slide his driver right round the edge of the water to close to the green. Down wind however it was way down there.
The long golf pairs season starting way back in April has now drawn to a close.
Thanks so much to everyone who has supported us throughout the season it’s been a pleasure having you all.
Golf pairs have released all events for next year… so see you then!!
