Slaley Hall 2025

Slaley Hall – The Hunting Course

Our golf day at Slaley Hall was one to remember, played on the renowned Hunting Course. Although the skies were cloudy, the weather held dry, making for excellent playing conditions and a fitting stage for some superb golf.

A Brief History

Slaley Hall, a magnificent Edwardian mansion set in the Northumberland countryside, has long been a symbol of elegance and heritage. Transformed into a luxury hotel and golfing destination, the estate offers two championship courses that have welcomed players from across the UK and beyond.

The Hunting Course, designed by renowned golf course architect Dave Thomas, is the jewel in Slaley’s crown. Known as the “Augusta of the North,” it winds through dense woodland and rolling moorland, testing golfers with strategic bunkering, dramatic elevation changes, and challenging greens. Over the years, it has hosted numerous prestigious tournaments, including European Tour events, solidifying its reputation as one of the finest championship courses in the country.

Despite the overcast skies, players were treated to dry conditions that allowed the course to shine in all its glory. The Hunting Course provided a stern but fair test, demanding accuracy from the tee and precision into its quick, sloping greens. Competitors rose to the challenge, producing some brilliant scoring and showcasing the spirit of the game in a competitive but friendly atmosphere.
