It was a picture-perfect day at Saffron Walden Golf Club, with sunshine bathing the immaculate fairways and a gentle breeze keeping the mood just right for competitive golf. The greens? Lightning-fast and true – the kind of surface that rewards precision and punishes hesitation.

Golfers turned out in high spirits for a full day of competition, camaraderie, and some impressive scoring. The sunlit course offered a stunning backdrop for an event packed with standout performances, friendly rivalries, and a little flair for fashion.

On the Leaderboard – Prize Winners

The team of Neil Harmer and Steve Foulds stole the spotlight, clinching 1st place and pocketing a £200 MGPT voucher, along with taking 1st place in the 4-Hole Competition. Their sharp play and cool heads on those slick greens made all the difference.

Hot on their heels were:

• 2nd Place – Jonathan Jenkins & Sonny Mitcheal (£175 MGPT voucher), who also placed 2nd in the 4-Hole Comp – a consistent showing all day long.

• 3rd Place – Paul Smith1 & Chris Littlewood (£150 MGPT voucher), blending power and finesse.

• 4th Place – David Morton & Roy Bayliss (£125 MGPT voucher), always a threat on days like these.

• 5th Place – Paul Toby & Matt Gray (£100 MGPT voucher)

• 6th Place – John Oakley & Paul Sims (£75 MGPT voucher)

Gross Scores – Precision Golf

Some teams brought their A-game when it came to raw scoring:

• 1st Gross – Daniel Van Der Westhuizen & Declan Shilton (£100 MGPT voucher) – steady, clinical, and in control all round.

• 2nd Gross – Alex Morton & Alex Burt (£75 MGPT voucher)

• 3rd Gross – Craig Timberlake & Jim Donnelly (£50 MGPT voucher)

• 4th Gross – Ben Steward & Jody Clifford (£25 MGPT voucher)

 Long Drive & Accuracy Prizes

The long drive competitions were hotly contested on those firm fairways, with:

• Men’s Long Drive: Ryan Deamer showing serious distance off the tee (£50 MGPT voucher).

• Ladies’ Long Drive: Sue Kirby bombing it with elegance and control (£50 MGPT voucher).

And when it came to pinpoint precision, Phil Harris took home the prize for Nearest the Pin (£50 MGPT voucher).

The 4-Hole Competition brought a faster-paced challenge that saw the same top contenders rise again:
