Royal Cinque Ports - 4th April 2024
On Thursday, April 4th, the Golf Pairs Tour embarked on an exciting journey to the renowned Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club, where 74 teams, comprising 154 golfers, gathered to compete along the historic and picturesque South East coastline.
Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club is an esteemed 18-hole links golf course situated in southeastern England, in the charming town of Deal, Kent.
Deal is famously known for its challenging layout, particularly its back nine, where the last seven holes present a formidable test, often playing directly into the prevailing south-westerly wind. The course's stark beauty lies in its narrow out-and-back design, characterized by sandhills and wild dune grasses, providing a stark and rugged landscape. The fairways offer tight lies and awkward stances, adding to the course's difficulty. Indeed, Deal is regarded as a tough course, where making a score on the front nine is crucial to success.
Throughout the day, our golfers encountered a full spectrum of weather conditions, experiencing all four seasons, from a "slight" breeze to rain, before the welcome appearance of sunshine, allowing everyone to thoroughly relish the day's proceedings.
It was truly a delightful day on this exceptional golf course, which showcased fabulous conditions despite the long and wet winter experienced across the UK. Links golf at its finest!
