Brokenhurst Manor 2025

An Iconic Day of Golf in the Heart of the New Forest.

Set in the breathtaking New Forest National Park, Brokenhurst Manor is a gem of English golf – a course where strategy meets serenity, and history walks every fairway.

Course Highlights at Brokenhurst Manor:

Designed in 1915 by Harry Colt, one of golf’s most revered architects, Brokenhurst Manor remains a shining example of classic English course design. With tree-lined fairways, natural undulations, and subtle green complexes, the course rewards smart play and punishes lapses in focus.

Here are some standout holes:

· Hole 2 – Par-5
This is a true risk‑reward hole. A bold line down the right may set up a chance to reach the green in two, but beware of a ditch short and left, and out-of-bounds to the right. The raised green demands a precise approach to avoid being pushed off-target.

Hole 5 – Par-3
A stunning and testing one-shotter over a valley and stream; missing left is costly. The green slopes right-to-left, so the safest target is just to the right of the center

Hole 17 – Par-4 Dog-Leg Right
Considered one of the toughest (and best) holes, this par-4 requires a long carry over a stream to reach a narrow entrance to an elongated, challenging green

Heritage of Brokenhurst Manor
Brokenhurst Manor is steeped in history, both golfing and cultural. Opened in 1915, the course was designed by Harry Colt, whose influence can be seen at world-famous venues like Sunningdale, Muirfield, and Royal Portrush.

Over the years, the club has hosted numerous prestigious events, including:

· Regional Open Qualifying
· Hampshire County Championships
· English Amateur events

Notably, Justin Rose, former U.S. Open Champion and Olympic gold medallist, honed his early game here as a junior member. His legacy continues to inspire the next generation of talent walking the fairways of Brokenhurst today.

The club’s location within the New Forest gives it a unique charm – it’s not uncommon to see deer, ponies, and the odd wandering cow sharing the landscape with players. It's this harmony with nature, combined with Colt’s timeless layout, that makes Brokenhurst such a special place to play.

Tournament Highlights:
The course was playing firm and fast, with fairways offering plenty of roll but making it difficult for players to hold their approach shots. A stiff, swirling wind added another layer of complexity, demanding precise shot-making and smart club selection. The greens were rolling beautifully, but they were lightning-quick and unforgiving—being on the wrong side of the hole meant that even a two-putt felt like a small triumph. It was a true test of touch, strategy, and patience.

Yet, despite the challenging conditions, several players rose to the occasion and produced some fantastic scores, showing just how high the level of play was. It was a day where resilience was rewarded, but brilliance still shone through. Winners on the day were
