Whittington Heath 2025
Whittington Heath proved to be a fascinating blend of history and modern design for our latest tournament.
Course Highlights
Originating in 1886 with a few holes set among the Heath adjacent to Whittington Barracks, the course was remodeled to 18 holes by Harry Colt in 1927, offering a variety of shots and a natural flow in sympathy with the Heath. Recently, the introduction of HS2 gave architect Jonathan Gaunt the chance to add five new holes and reroute some of the originals, opening in March 2022. The result is a course that beautifully balances history, challenge, and modern design.
Weather Conditions
The first five new holes were exposed to the elements, with the wind making scoring very tricky. From hole 6 onwards, the protection of the original layout made scoring much easier. It was another sunny day with no rain, giving players perfect conditions for a competitive round.
Tournament Highlights
With fairways running long and greens rolling true, the course was primed for low scores. The round of the daywent to Chris Dickenson, who shot his lowest gross score ever (+4 off a 14 handicap). Chris and his partner Adrian Cashmore went on to win the main prize with 49 points.
The gross prize was taken by Aiden Perkins & Macauley Short, who finished strong with Birdie, Birdie to end on -5.
