Sheringham Summer 2025

A Day of Golf at Sheringham Golf Club: Wind, Waves, and Winning Shots

Sheringham Golf Club, located on the stunning North Norfolk coast, provided a truly memorable experience for our players. Perched on dramatic cliffs, the course offers a fantastic mix of history, breathtaking views, and a challenging links layout. Recently ranked 70th in the 2025 National Club Golfer Top 100 Courses in England and Top 100 in Golf World’s best courses, Sheringham truly lives up to its reputation as one of the best courses in the region.

Highlights of the Course

Sheringham’s links course is set against the backdrop of rolling hills and rugged coastline, making it a scenic but challenging course for golfers of all levels. The deep history of the course is palpable as players make their way across the beautiful and often unforgiving fairways. Every hole offers stunning views, with the 6th hole being a standout for its coastal vistas, and the clifftop holes testing golfers' abilities in the face of the unpredictable weather.

Weather Conditions

The day started with 30+mph winds, making the course even more challenging than usual. The links terrain and gusty conditions made for some tough play, especially for the early starters. However, the weather shifted in the afternoon, with the wind calming down and blue skies appearing, giving the later groups a much more enjoyable experience, with conditions becoming much more forgiving after about 6pm. It was an exciting test of patience and skill for all involved.

Tournament Highlights

The early groups faced the brunt of the wind, and by the time the late starters teed off, the scoring dramatically improved. The best score in the clubhouse initially was 42 points, but as the wind eased and the skies cleared, the top scores started rolling in from the afternoon players.
