Oakmere - 6th August 2024
Today we had 174 golfers at Oakmere golf club playing the admiral course.
Not sure where to start as it was a very eventful day! Heavy rain, then perfect sunny skies, another HIO plus TV film crew because of a wallaby on the course, certainly not something you see everyday.
All 3 heathland courses benefit from free draining and are locally known as the ‘all weather courses’, welcoming golfers throughout the year. Oakmere features the 18 hole Championship Admirals course, the full length 9 hole, 18 tee Commanders course & the 9 Hole Captains Course Par 3.
The HIO today was the 2nd, surrounded by water, bunkers and hedges there really was no stop to miss, you had to hit the green. The hole was playing 178 yards down hill but into a strong wind. The shot of the day was from Tony Hunt who managed a HIO, our 4th of the season. Congratulations Tony a great achievement, a shame Tony didn’t enter the draw though for the 10,000 worth of prizes… your not alone Tony the other 3 people didn’t either! Oppsss
The longest drive hole was the 11th, well done to Julie and Gary who hit 2 excellent tee shots.
Our East Midlands tour continues tomorrow as we visit Breadsall for a team scramble event.
