Moray 3 Days 2025

Moray Golf Tour: Three Days of Classic Courses, Unforgettable Moments & Fierce Competition

From misty mornings in whisky country to sun-drenched fairways by the sea, the MGPT Moray Golf Tour delivered three spectacular days of golf, camaraderie, and a little chaos (we’re looking at you, Pro Shop bounce-shot). With a strong field of players, legendary Scottish layouts, and generous prizes on offer, it was a golf trip to remember.

Day 1: Forres Golf Club – Tradition in the Heart of Whisky Country

We teed off the tour at Forres Golf Club, a scenic James Braid-designed parkland course nestled in the heart of Speyside. Though the morning started with a lingering haar (a local sea mist), visibility improved quickly, and players enjoyed calm, overcast conditions that were perfect for scoring.

Forres’s signature hole – the par-3 16th, “The Pond” – lived up to its name, swallowing more than its fair share of golf balls. As always, Braid's strategic bunkering and deceptive greens rewarded accuracy and punished anything less.

Day 2: Moray Golf Club – A True Links Masterpiece

Next stop was the Old Course at Moray Golf Club, a rugged, true links layout designed by none other than Old Tom Morris. In contrast to Day 1, it was a bluebird day with barely a cloud in sight – perfect conditions to appreciate the humps, hollows, and firm-running fairways that define links golf.

The round ended with fireworks on the long, undulating 18th, where the clubhouse gallery watched on. One player earned some light-hearted boos from the crowd after bouncing his second shot off the pro shop roof—and still managing to save par!

Day 3: Elgin Golf Club – A Highland Finale

The tour concluded at the immaculate Elgin Golf Club, where sunshine and warm temperatures welcomed players for a final push. This tree-lined parkland layout, framed by stunning views of the Cairngorm Mountains, offered a peaceful (if testing) end to the trip.

The greens were lightning fast, running at 11 on the stimpmeter, adding an extra layer of challenge. Many a hopeful birdie was turned into a cautious two-putt… or worse.
