Dunstable Downs 2025
There’s nothing quite like a golf day at Dunstable Downs Golf Club—where the rolling fairways are as picturesque as they are challenging. This week’s event was no exception, with the course playing firm and fast, and the greens proving as slick as ice and just as tricky to read. Add in some devilish pin positions, and even the most seasoned golfers were forced to dig deep into their short-game arsenal.
Perfect Conditions for a True Test of Golf
With a brisk breeze sweeping across the Downs and greens that punished anything less than pinpoint precision, it was a day for smart strategy, steady nerves, and silky putting. Many struggled to keep their approach shots close, and a three-putt here or there was hardly uncommon.
But despite the difficulty, the atmosphere was electric—full of camaraderie, banter, and a few hard-earned fist pumps.
And the Winners Are...
At the top of the leaderboard, taking home £150 in MGPT Vouchers, were Simon Clark and Jarred Miltz, who seemed to embrace the challenge rather than shy away from it. Their composure on the greens paid dividends, and they even followed up with a 2nd place finish in the 4 Hole Comp, showing their versatility across formats.
In 2nd place overall, Bradley Mcevoy and James Perry earned themselves a tidy £125 voucher, staying steady under pressure all day long. Close behind, Martin Creighton and Lee Nichol clinched 3rd place and a £100 prize, rounding out a fiercely competitive top three.
Also among the prize winners:
-
4th – Matthew Cody & James Marchant – £75
-
5th – Adam Johnson & Simon Collins – £50
-
6th – Andrew Green & Paul Green – £25
Gross Greatness
In the gross competition, where raw scores speak volumes, it was Kevin Trowbridge and Alastair Price who emerged victorious with a £50 voucherfor 1st Gross—a sterling effort on such a tough setup. Chris Drury and Dom Ronan followed closely in 2nd Gross, collecting £25.
Skills Competitions: Power, Precision, and Panache
There were also several chances for individual glory:
-
Men’s Longest Drive (11th Hole) – Max Moor-Radford, launching it deep to claim a £50 voucher
-
Ladies’ Longest Drive (11th Hole) – Sarah Lloyd, who showed serious power and control
-
Nearest the Pin (18th Hole) – Ammer Ulah, dialing in his tee shot on a treacherous final hole
Best Dressed: Style Points Matter
Sometimes, it's not just about the scorecard. Matt Cody turned heads all day with his on-point outfit, earning himself the Best Dressed accolade and a £25 voucher.
The 4 Hole Shootout
For a bit of added excitement, players took on a fast-paced 4 Hole Competition:
-
1st Place – Harry O'Dell & Luke Partridge – £100 voucher
-
2nd Place – Simon Clark & Jarred Miltz – £50 voucher
Community Highlight
And finally, a special mention to David Hawkins and Simon Gofton, who were awarded a £50 Golfshake voucher—a nod to their contribution in helping others discover just how special a day at Dunstable Downs can be.
Final Thoughts
Whether it was fighting to hold the greens, reading breaks that didn’t exist yesterday, or just enjoying the views from the highest point in Bedfordshire, the day delivered everything a golfer could hope for—and more.
Thanks to everyone who played, supported, and made the day such a memorable one. Until next time, keep it in the short stuff (if you can)!

This was such a great value day and Dunstable Downs was even better than I remembered. Some of the best bunkers we’ve ever seen. A tricky but fair course and a warm welcome in the clubhouse. Thanks Golf Pairs for a great event
