Cricket St Thomas - 25th March 2025
If you were lucky enough to attend the event at Cricket St Thomas Golf Club today, you’ll agree that it was nothing short of spectacular. This beautiful course, with its deep-rooted history, provided the perfect backdrop for a memorable day of golf.
The story of Cricket St Thomas begins in 1932, when it was originally designed as a 9-hole course by none other than JH Taylor, a five-time Open Champion. Fast forward to 1991, and the course was expanded to 18 holes under the guidance of Leonard Fisher, who owned the club from 1955 to 2007. Today, Cricket St Thomas continues to shine as one of the best-presented courses in the South West, having undergone a rebrand in 2014 from Windwhistle to its current name.
The course offers not just a challenge but breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside, making it a treat for both your golf game and your senses. The dedicated greenkeepers ensure that the course remains in top condition, ensuring an unforgettable golfing experience every time you visit.
Weather – March Magic!
With blue skies, a light breeze, and perfect temperatures, the weather was a golfer’s dream. Despite the usual worries about March weather, everyone was pleasantly surprised as the conditions proved ideal for a round of golf. It’s safe to say that taking a risk on booking an event in March definitely paid off!
Memorable Moments:
The day was filled with standout moments, but Gary Porter & Dean Porter truly stood out as the Best Dressed duo. Not only did they turn heads with their stylish outfits, but they also brought their A-game to the course, playing some fantastic golf that matched their impeccable style.
Another highlight was Leigh Cornick & Clayton Cornick, who were playing in their very first Golf Pairs event and managed to finish a strong 2nd place. These two weren’t showing any signs of slowing down either—they were in the midst of their 5th consecutive day of golf and were set to play at the Weston Super Mare GP event the very next day. Talk about dedication!
