Koh Samui

The picturesque palm fringed island of Koh Samui lies off the East Coast of Thailand, in the Gulf of Thailand. It's the second largest island next to Phuket, and it's known for its peaceful tranquility, fantastic all year round climate and relaxing atmosphere.
The island has something for everyone - with a variety of accommodation types to suit everyone - from very affordable beach huts to luxury hotel rooms to cater for even the biggest of budgets.
The centre is mostly dense tropical jungle with the majority of the tourist activity being situated around the coast and tranquil warm sea - ideal for a post golf dip.
The temperature in January ranges from 26-32 degrees and the sea temperature is the same - so make sure and stay by the coast and enjoy some morning or evening swimming.
January is a great month to visit Koh Samui with average rain around 2-3 inches in the month with around 5-6 days rain. Temperatures are more balmy and cooler than the strong heat of summer. Contrast this with 20 inches of rain in November and 15-20 days of rain from May - November!

Santiburi Samui Golf Resort

Known as one of the most spectacular golf courses in the whole of Thailand, Santiburi Samui Country Club is a championship 18 hole golf course carved out of a dense tropical jungle on the side of a mountain. It's in fact described as a "mountain" course as opposed to a parkland, and you'll find out when you get there why buggies are provided - with the climate and inclines making for a much more enjoyable round.
The welcoming and modern clubhouse with a large open restaurant serves an excellent range of top quality local and international food and beers for anyone looking for a pre or post round snifter.
We are planning to start each day at around 11-12 so plenty of time for those who wish to recover from the night before, and also plenty of time after to enjoy a cold beer in the clubhouse with it's superb hillside views over the island after if required.
The course is technically tricky, and built to enhance the natural feeling of the area, there are many challenges on the course which mean that we are sure that three visits will not cause any issues, as you'll be able to improve and understand the course more each time.
The course rose to prominence when it was selected as the host in 2006 of the Bangkok Airways Open, and they have maintained those high standards through the years. The views over the gulf of Thailand are jaw dropping and need to be seen to be experienced, whilst working your way through the cliffs and streams of the local jungle.
Quick greens as you would expect in the climate add to the protection afforded by this demanding 6300 yard course, which will test any standard of golfer, since accuracy rather than length is of paramount importance.
The club has a relaxed but sensible dress code similar to the UK - no tank tops, bathing suits or denim, and collared shirts with sleeves (golf polos) must be worn for gents. For women, it's knee length golf skirts or shorts along with golf wear.
You'll have a caddy as part of your package - which is standard in Thailand - they know the course literally like the back of their hands so you'll be well served!
There is a driving range and locker room on site, and you can rent clubs, umbrellas and even golf shoes if your luggage allowance is stretched with other equipment, and a well stocked club shop to purchase balls and tees - you don't need to bring anything apart from yourself.
Please remember that whereas we have 3 rounds booked for our event, additional rounds can be booked if you wish to play more.
We also would recommend since we have no accommodation nor flights booked, that customers may wish to make this trip part of a wider Thailand experience trip, perhaps taking in some of the Bangkok or Phuket courses at the same time as Koh Samui.

HOTELS AND FLIGHTS

We are looking forward to welcoming you to our second trip to Koh Samui.
The island is small, and we recommend staying around the Fisherman's Village area - which is loaded with bars and restaurants, and sits on the beach. However there are other areas you may wish to book.

The Golf Pairs team are visiting for a week, but we welcome people who are travelling with partners, or alone, or with groups, to join the golf.

Golf will be 21st - 22nd - 24th January 2024 so as long as you are there for those 4 days - all will be happy!
