The Belfry Brabazon

The course has also hosted numerous other top-level tournaments, including European Tour events and other professional competitions. The Brabazon Course at The Belfry gained international fame as the host of the Ryder Cup, one of the most prestigious team events in golf. The course hosted the Ryder Cup on four occasions, in 1985, 1989, 1993, and 2002. The latter was especially memorable as it was the first Ryder Cup held after the tragic events of September 11, 2001, and it ended in a thrilling 14.5-13.5 victory for the European Team.
