The origins of Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Course can be traced back to the late 19th century. The course was first established in 1888 as a nine-hole layout and later expanded to 18 holes in 1932. Over the years, the course has undergone various improvements and renovations, evolving into the respected golfing destination it is today+Castle Stuart Golf Links was designed by the acclaimed golf course architect, Gil Hanse, and the former professional golfer and television commentator, Mark Parsinen. The course was officially opened in 2009 and has since become a modern classic in the world of golf. Despite its relatively young age, the course has achieved widespread acclaim and has been featured as the host of several prestigious golfing events.+Strategic routing shines throughout Old Petty. The second hole passes the Old Petty Church, while the third plays beside Castle Stuart itself. Mid-round, the course dips inland before returning to the coast, with the 10th hole showcasing the Firth’s backdrop and those rumpled fairways that reward creative shot-making. The 14th revisits the tidal edge, with a short par-3 17th playing as a dramatic lead into the homeward stretch.+The course plays as a par‑70, 6,612-yard inland gem, carved out over undulating heathland. The routing takes golfers both uphill and downhill with approximately 210feet (65m) of elevation change. From the back tees, fairways are generous but missing greens often leaves tricky recovery shots. The 12th hole stands out for its sweeping views over Inverness city, the Moray Firth, and the surrounding hills.
