Spey Valley+Boat of Garten+Grantown on Spey
Designed by Dave Thomas and host of the European Challenge Tour's Scottish Hydro Challenge from 2009 to 2018, the Spey Valley Championship Golf Course combines the challenging aspects of the sport with the unique Highlands environment, making the course an ideal venue for high-profile golf tournaments and charity fundraisers.Despite its relatively short length of approximately 5,876 yards from the back tees (par70)+The course provides a robust test through its strategic design. The tight, undulating fairways are flanked by birch, pine, heather, and gorse, requiring pinpoint accuracy off the tee. Bunkers are well-positioned, and the small, subtly contoured greens demand deft approach shots and precise putting.+Lying just a stone's throw from the quaint town centre of Grantown‑on‑Spey, the course offers stunning views of the Cairngorms and Cromdale Hills. The layout divides naturally into three distinct character zones: the first six holes on flat parkland, the next six winding through woodland, and the final six set over rolling parkland terrain. Wildlife is abundant—red deer, hares, buzzards, and a variety of other birds often make an appearance, enriching the peaceful Highland golfing experience.
