Tain Golf Club

Date Day 1 - Wednesday 17th August 2022
Location Chapel Road - Tain - Ross-Shire - IV19 1JE > GET DIRECTIONS
Famed as Old Tom Morris’s Jewel of the North, the golf course at Tain has been around since the late 19th Century. Situated on the Southern side of the Dornoch Firth, Tain has it all in terms of scenery - sea and mountain views - so golfers need to focus on their game and not get carried away with the beauty of the surroundings! There is no end to the interest on the classic layout where Old Tom’s vision of a mixed links and heathland course to keep skilled and beginner golfers alike interested has been faithfully maintained over the years by devoted committee members. A fine start to our tour ranked 86 in Scotland by our friends at Top 100 Golf Courses, this is one not to be missed!

Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Club

Date Day 2 - Thursday 18th August 2022
Location Ness Road East - Fortrose - Scotland - IV10 8SE > GET DIRECTIONS
Less than an hour’s drive from day 1 at Tain - our second course at Fortrose is among the oldest recorded golf venues in the World - with records showing their first AGM taking place in July 1793! Key influencer James Braid designed the current layout in 1935 and the club is thriving to this day, highly regarded by many including Top 100 Golf Courses who rank it as #69 in the whole of Scotland! This is a links course as golf was intended to be played - some amazing sea views - come along and see if you can see the local dolphins whilst attacking or perhaps defending this relatively short by modern standards but tricky Par 71.

Strathpeffer Spa Golf Club

Date Day 3 - Friday 19th August 2022
Location Golf Course Road - Strathpeffer - Ross-shire - IV14 9AS > GET DIRECTIONS
A short trip inland from Fortrose takes us to our first non links venue at Strathpeffer. A hillside course laid out by Old Tom Morris - it’s short at 5000 yards par 67 but don’t be fooled - you’ll need your wits about you to score here, and prepare for some exercise, sloping lies, blind shots, water and bunkers to keep your interest. The course is ranked #29 in North Scotland by Top 100 Golf Courses and look out for the short opening Par 4 - one of the biggest downhill drops you’ll see - along with a run of 3 stunning Par 3s. This is golf as it was intended to be played in its original elements - stunning views and one of the friendliest clubs around - not to be missed.

Bonar Bridge & Ardgay Golf Club

Date Day 4 - Saturday 20th August 2022
Location Market Stance - Migdale Rd - Bonar Bridge - Sutherland - IV24 3EJ > GET DIRECTIONS
Day 4 is Saturday and we continue towards the North, less than an hour’s drive from Strathpeffer, is the picturesque inland 9 hole stunner on the banks of Loch Migdale - Bonar Bridge & Ardgay. You’ll be playing this course twice as a front and back 9 - so you’ll have plenty of time to take in the views of the hills and loch whilst appreciating the quality of golf on a course which Peter Alliss called a “mini Gleneagles” - praise indeed!

Durness Golf Club

Date Day 5 - Sunday 21st August 2022
Location Balnakei - Durness - Sutherland - IV27 4PX > GET DIRECTIONS
Less than 70 miles North but as stunning a drive as you’ll ever make straight through the almost entirely unspoiled wilderness of the Highlands - we complete the weekend with another 9 hole gem. Ranked by those who review 9 hole courses among the best 9 holers in the WORLD (number 12 according to Golf Magazine USA) this is a relatively modern course compared to the others on the list - opening in 1988. 9 holes you’ll get to know well as you’ll be playing them twice in succession from different tees - the views here are simply jaw dropping and we are delighted to have been able to secure the course for the day on a weekend in summer for you. We just HOPE the wind stays kind so you don’t lose all your golf balls to the sea!

Reay Golf Club

Date Day 6 - Monday 22nd August 2022
Location Reay - Thurso - Caithness - KW14 7RE > GET DIRECTIONS
We start the new week with another jaw dropping drive across the very top of the UK from Durness to Reay. Billed as Britain’s most Northerly 18 hole links course, it’s ranked by our friends at Top 100 Golf Courses as #86 in Scotland. Founded in the late 19th century this stunning links gem was designed at least in part by James Braid - with views to die for and an approach from the committee which embraces nature - this is golf as it should be - and was intended. You can’t miss Reay and if you are joining us on the trip you need to make sure that you are including this on your tick list.

Wick Golf Club

Date Day 7 - Tuesday 23rd August 2022
Location Reiss - Wick - Caithness - KW1 4RW > GET DIRECTIONS
Moving from Reay to Wick is a short hop along the North East Coast - why not stop off at John O’Groats on the way and get the photos! Wick is billed as the oldest golf club on the NS500 - 150 Years Old in 2020 - and it’s been moulded and shaped since - most recently in 2002 by Ronan Rafferty - to its current layout - and thriving golf club. This is a classic “Out and Back” links course - with smooth greens and quick fairways - and ranked by Top 100 Golf Courses as #27 in North Scotland there are many improvements underway to take the course to the next level!

Brora Golf Club

Date Day 8 - Wednesday 24th August 2022
Location Golf Road - Brora - Sutherland - KW9 6QS > GET DIRECTIONS
Starting the turn back towards Inverness on the second week of our event, we hit our first golf course on the tour ranked by Top 100 Golf Courses in the Top 100 in the UK (#89) - the magnificent links at Brora. Yet another James Braid influenced masterpiece - Brora. Another classic “out and back” links setup - the first 9 holes played alongside the North Sea (please no wind!) - and the return to the clubhouse is no less challenging without the enormous ever present sea. Famed for the quick greens, we are very fortunate to have Brora on our list, particularly as we have teamed it up with it’s near neightbour the following day!

Golspie Golf Club

Date Day 9 - Thursday 25th August 2022
Location Ferry Road - Golspie - Sutherland - KW10 6ST > GET DIRECTIONS
A short skip down the coast from Brora on the same stretch of coastline is the magnificent Golspie, which you will not be surprised to learn given the history of the area is another of the James Braid influenced courses in Sutherland. Unlike it’s near neighbour, Brora is not an exclusively links course - with meadowland, parkland, trees and of course a couple of links holes featuring here, making it interesting and challenging alike. It must feature highly in any NS500 golf route, and we are pleased it’s on ours - ranked highly in Scotland (#63) by Top 100 Golf Courses, we think Golspie is a must play destination.

Royal Dornoch Golf Club

Date Days 10 & 11 - Friday 26th and Saturday 27th August 2022
Location Golf Road - Dornoch - Sutherland - IV25 3LW > GET DIRECTIONS
Another short hop to our first 2 day event of the tour - both at the mercurial Royal Dornoch.

Starting on the Championship Links - ranked #1 in North Scotland, #3 in Scotland, #5 in the UK and #12 in the World by the team at Top 100 Golf Courses - this is quality golf at it’s best to rival anything that the country or indeed the planet has to offer.
Dornoch is said to be the third oldest course in the world - and Old Tom Morris started the current layout although others have improved it since, making it the world class links that it is. Accessibility is an issue for Dornoch, but an ideal time to take it in with all the other classics set up for you at the same time! Day 2 we will take in the Struie course - formerly the ladies course - which has been moulded and improved over the years to make it a standalone test ranked #21 in North Scotland in it’s own right. Perhaps not worth a trip on its own right, but alongside it’s bigger sibling it forms a fantastic contrast on the same stretch of coastline - and on a Saturday too - why not stay for the weekend - and continue to head down the coast to our next giant...Castle Stuart

Castle Stuart Golf Club

Date Day 12 (1 of Speyside 3 Days) - Sunday 28th August 2022
Location Dalcross - Inverness - IV2 7JL > GET DIRECTIONS
The first event of a 3 day event in and around Inverness, starting out at the giant of the area - former Scottish Open host and World Top 100 Ranked majestic course just North of Inverness. A relatively modern designed course, in an outstandingly beautiful part of the world this is a world class Championship links - which paired up with the two following days makes an unmissable week of golf. A classic course - where similar to Trump Aberdeen every hole is an individual experience to be enjoyed on it’s own - it has a very natural feel and as you would expect from such a highly ranked venue - immaculate greens where only the golfer can be blamed for missed putts!

Boat of Garten Golf Club

Date Day 13 (2 of Speyside 3 Days) - Monday 29th August 2022
Location Nethybridge Road - Boat of Garten - Aviemore - PH24 3BQ > GET DIRECTIONS
We think that the Boat of Garten Golf Club is a must visit for any trip to the Highlands of Scotland. Yet another one of the courses on our list designed by the master of golf courses James Braid, it is set in the heart of the Cairngorms, near Aviemore, with the stunning river Spey running alongside, famous for being the area where many of the best whiskies in the world are made - Glenlivet, Macallan and Glenfiddich all classed as “Speyside”. This is an inland riverside course featuring birch lined fairways and protected by heathland in the form of heather, but like Castle Stuart, each hole is an individual test, and nature is at the forefront of it’s design and maintenance. We think this is a fine addition to our schedule and day 2 of the 3 days in Speyside - we know you will love “The Boat” - and our friends at Top 100 Golf Courses rank it #38 in Scotland - so it’s not just us!

Spey Valley Golf Club

Date Day 14 (3 of Speyside 3 Days) - Tuesday 30th August 2022
Location Macdonald Spey Valley Country Club - Dalfaber Drive - Aviemore - PH22 1ST > GET DIRECTIONS
A short hop from the Boat takes us to the edge of Aviemore and the superb Spey Valley Championship golf course - ranked at #44 in Scotland by Top 100 Golf Courses. Spey Valley is a long course at over 7100 yards and was bult recently as a course to challenge pros - featuring a 600+ yard Par 5 one of the longest in Scotland. The beauty of the Cairngorms all around this is a simply outstanding venue - nature and quality and a superb end to our 3 day event in Speyside and our 14 day North Scotland Swing!
