We’re incredibly proud of our golfing pedigree here at Slaley Hall. Our two 18-hole Championship courses have played host to over 20 European Tour, European Seniors Tour, PGA Cup and now Asian Tour events. Described as the 'Augusta of the North', our Hunting Course is among the finest Northumberland golf courses, and should be on every golfer's bucket list. It even has its own version of Amen Corner

At the Golf Pairs Tour, although we started with only offering pairs competitions, we have increased our offerings to singles events in 2022 and in 2023 we are going to introduce a big favorite at Golf Clubs around the country - the Scramble.

Played in groups of 4 golfers and open only to those with formal WHS handicaps - the Scramble is a fun sociable golf format where groups play as a team, pick the best shot from the group of 4, and all play from that spot until someone holes out. Texas Variant - Team score - All players play each shot - select the best - all players play from that spot until the ball is holed.

Florida Variant - Team score - All players drive - select the best - all but the player who played the previous shot play from that spot until someone holes out.
Typically everyone needs a certain number of drives to ensure everyone is participating fully, and handicaps are complicated but calculated as follows.
Scramble (4 players) 25% / 20% / 15% / 10% from the lowest to highest handicap
Scramble (3 players) 30% / 20% / 10% from the lowest to highest handicap
Scramble (2 players) 35% Low / 15% High

For example a team of 4 with 5, 10, 15 and 20 playing handicaps, your team Texas Scramble handicap would be a total of 7.5 (Rounded to 8) which would be deducted from the team’s gross score. (Player 1: 1.25 (5 x 25%), Player 2: 2 (10 x 20%), Player 3: 2.25 (15 x 15%), Player 4: 2 (20 x 10%))
Don’t worry - Golf Genius will sort it all for you - as usual all you have to do is enter your gross score on the hole! Prizes Due to the nature of the Scramble where groups of golfers essentially follow the rules themselves without any cross checking or verification, the prizes at these events are token.
However green fees are low - so everyone can have a fun day out and win something at the same time!
