Trentham 2026

A Perfect Springs Golf Day at Trentham Golf Club. There are few better places to spend a warm, sunny day than Trentham Golf Club, one of Staffordshire’s most historic and picturesque parkland courses. Founded in 1894, Trentham has long been regarded as one of the county’s premier golfing venues, and stepping onto its fairways feels like walking through a living chapter of English golfing heritage

Arriving at Trentham on a bright April’s morning, the first thing that strikes you is the tranquillity. The course sits on what was once part of the Duke of Sutherland’s estate, and even today it retains that sense of grandeur and space. The opening holes ease you into the round with generous fairways framed by mature woodland. In the sunshine, the greens shimmer, the bunkers glow white, and the gentle hum of birdsong follows you from tee to green. It’s the kind of day that reminds you why golf is best played outdoors, in nature, with the sun on your back.

 The course played tough, still a little soft underfoot, and a chilling breeze really effected ball carry for the mere mortals. The greens were running at around 9.5 on the stimp meter so slow in some ways, but we witnessed some serious breaking putts frustratingly slide by the hole.

 The nearest the pin competition on the short 4th was won by a fair shot, 1.9m away from the hole – well done Mr Murray Watters

The mens longest drive down the par 5 18th hole, was savage! The second shot was only playing 185yards downhill. He didn’t make Birdie, well done Toby Swinney
The ladies longest drive was won with a beauty of a drive from Marie Withers

 The winning score was a mere 42 points today, reflecting how tough Trentham was today. Well played Iain Hamilton & Matt Bleadside

 

Second place just 1 point back was James Cartlidge & Lee Wild

Third place winning on countback with 40 points was Richard Bridgewater & Mel Ellam

 A brilliant day, Trentham have been super hosts as always, keeping the standards high with their incredible bacon buttys being served.
