Set just outside Troon, Kilmarnock (Barassie) Golf Club delivered a fantastic day of true links golf, combining championship pedigree with ever-changing conditions and some exceptional performances across the field.

A Championship Links Test

Barassie Links is a premier 27-hole facility and a regular Final Qualifying venue for The Open Championship, offering a layout that demands precision, control, and smart course management.

Among the standout holes:

• 11th Hole: A long, straight par 4 requiring pinpoint accuracy to find a narrow, two-tiered green

• 4th Hole: A testing par 3 with a burn running alongside a tight green, protected by a classic pot bunker

• 12th Hole: A newer addition that has quickly earned its place as a signature challenge on the course

Weather & Conditions

In true links fashion, the weather threw everything at the players — sunshine, showers, and even a brief but intense hailstorm that temporarily turned the course white!

Despite the interruptions, the course remained in excellent condition, though the hail made putting a real challenge for a short spell.

Memorable Moments

There were plenty of standout performances throughout the day:

💥 Tony Thomas (6) produced a brilliant moment, eagling the 360-yard par-4 13th hole
🔥 Graeme Irving (3.2) from Lochmaben impressed with a superb 2-under-par gross 70, including six birdies
