Hull 2026

Hull 2026

A brilliant turnout of 108 golfers, traditional James Braid parkland at its best, autumn officially announcing itself, an eagle on the 12th that overshadowed a forgotten birdie, two 2s cashing in the pot, and some genuinely unreal scoring from a future PGA pro — Hull served up a really memorable day of Golf Pairs action.

Course Highlights

Hull Golf Club is a traditional, mature James Braid parkland course with a strong history, a characterful clubhouse, and a layout that rewards good course management rather than simply length. A properly enjoyable venue, and one that had a cracking turnout today — 108 golfers taking to the course.

Weather Conditions

Autumn has officially arrived — although it was a decent day on balance. A little shower rolled through, and a breeze off the Humber Bridge kept things honest, but the weather held up well enough for the field to enjoy their round.

Memorable Moments

The moment of the day belonged to Peter Mounsor, who sealed a stunning eagle on the 12th — a properly special moment. And in a classic case of golfing comedy, his partner Mark made a birdie on the same hole and didn't even get on the card! Just when you thought your birdie was the shot of the hole...

Simon Johnson had a brilliant day with the irons too — bagging two 2s (on the 4th and 13th). Good job he was in the 2s pot!

Best Dressed honours went to Karen Dent and Fairuz Mitchell — a properly turned-out pair and a worthy nod.

Tournament Highlights

Special mention also to Emma Brannon, who put together some genuinely unreal scoring — a -3 gross from the 5th to the 18th. Add in a Ladies' Longest Drive and it was a proper day out. Best of luck with the PGA degree, Emma — on current form, it's in very safe hands.

Winners

Huge congratulations to Andrew Lesi and Scott Lesi, who took the top spot with a superb 47 points. A brilliant round and a lovely shared-surname double at the top of the leaderboard.

In the runners-up spot were Andrew Simpson and Alex Porter with a strong 46 points — a fantastic effort, and Alex made it a proper day out by also picking up the Nearest the Pin. Nice work.

Best Gross honours went to Nigel Smith and Neil Allan — regular Gross winners and in genuinely sensational form again today.

On the Course

Plenty of action away from the main leaderboard too:

  • Men's Longest Drive (12th) — Ben Stephens (an absolute monster hit!)
  • Ladies' Longest Drive (12th) — Emma Brannon
  • Nearest the Pin (8th) — Alex Porter (a friendly 129-yard flick!)

Well played to all three for stepping up when it mattered.

A brilliant day's golf at a historic James Braid venue. Thanks to everyone who played, to Hull Golf Club for hosting us so well, and huge congratulations once again to Andrew and Scott on their win. Best of luck Emma — onto the next one. Leaderboard can be found here.
