Duff House Royal - 13th June 2024
The beautiful Duff House Royal golf club in Banff on Scotlanfd’s Moray Firth coast was the latest stop for the Golf Pairs Tour. Glorious sunny skies greeted the 44 pairs of golfers taking on the challenge of this Dr. Alister Mackenzie designed course.
Eagle to Win It!
A remarkable finish from Liam Farquhar(7) and Craig Milne(9) saw them claim victory by 1 point on 45 points. Liam holing his second shot at the par 4 18th for an eagle to complement birdie at the 15th. Kevin Ward(11) and Adam Ward(1) were the unlucky pair who were pipped at the post, 44 points not quite enough despite a brilliant back 9 of 25 points including birdies at the 13th and 18th. 3rd place went to Ross McNeil(9) and Jonathan Moir(16) with 43 points, solid scoring throughout with the highlight a brilliant birdie by Jonathan on the par 5 11th. Countback separated the next 8 teams, all on 41 points, with Darren and Gavin Pinto taking 4th William Black and Graham Leask 5th and Grant Looker and Alan Stewart 6th
Gross Competition
Local lads James Mclardy(2.9) and Scott Riddoch(2.9) took the gross competition win with 37 points, birdies at the 11th, 12th and 18th helping them to victory. Christopher Harris(7.5) and Neil Buchan(6.1) took 2nd place with Mark Strachan(8.4) and Ivar McBay(13.3) in 3rd.
Power hitting was the key at the 7th hole as Gillian Cruden took the longest drive prize for the ladies with Ryan Coutts taking the men’s prize. While Ryan was hitting it long his playing partner Alan Mennie was all about accuracy taking the nearest the pin prize on the 6th hole.
Par 3 Competition
Short hole experts of the day were Stuart Bartram and Keiran Craighead with a brilliant 13 stableford points over the 5 par 3 holes. William Mackenzie and Derek Marshall shared 2nd place with Grant Looker and Alan Stewart both teams scoring 11 points.
2s Pot
Seven players managed to grab a share of the spoils by bagging themselves a 2. Those players were: Steven Thain, David Kirk, Andrew Lavelle, Ivar McBay, Alan Mennie, David Mitchell and not forgetting the eagle 2 at the last from Liam Farquhar!
