Beamish Park 2026

Beamish Park 2026

A picturesque County Durham setting, a challenging but genuinely enjoyable parkland course, a stunning 48-point winning score with a perfectly balanced card, and a Best Gross round of -1 sealed with a bogey on the last — Beamish Park served up a really memorable day of golf.

Course Highlights

Beamish Park Golf Club delivers everything you want from a great golf day. A picturesque County Durham setting, a challenging but enjoyable parkland course, memorable holes throughout, and a clubhouse ready to welcome you back after the final putt.

From the spectacular 15th "Ravine" to the demanding closing holes, there are plenty of opportunities for drama on the scorecard — and plenty to talk about over a drink afterwards. A course with real character on every hole.

Weather Conditions

Genuinely great conditions for a golf day, though on the cool side. Bright spells and passing clouds, with the possibility of a brief shower later in the afternoon. Moderate winds kept things honest without ever making scoring impossible — a light waterproof and an extra layer proved sensible choices for the field.

Tournament Highlights

The scoring headline came from a beautifully balanced round at the top — Mark Grainger and Harry Spence carding an outstanding 48 points, split perfectly with 24 points on each nine. Consistency of that quality tells you everything you need to know about the round.

Best Gross belonged to Dan Pennington and Mathew Sutcliffe, who finished on -1 even with a bogey on the last. Add up the maths and it's clear how well they played from tee to green all day.

The 2s pot was a lively one too — 3 twos were made out on the course, with each player walking away with £61. A nice bonus for some sharp iron play.

Winners

Huge congratulations to Mark Grainger and Harry Spence, who took the top spot with a superb 48 points — anchored by that perfectly even front and back nine.

In the runners-up spot were John Roper and Clive Middlebrook with a strong 43 points — a fantastic effort right in the mix at the top of the leaderboard.

Best Gross honours went to Dan Pennington and Mathew Sutcliffe with a brilliant -1 — a really strong round of golf on a proper test.

On the Course

Plenty of action away from the main leaderboard too:

  • Men's Longest Drive — Nigel Dodd
  • Ladies' Longest Drive — Tania Dodd
  • Nearest the Pin — John Johnson

Well played to all three for stepping up when it mattered.

A brilliant day at a genuinely enjoyable County Durham venue. Thanks to everyone who played, to Beamish Park Golf Club for hosting us so well, and huge congratulations once again to Mark and Harry on a beautifully balanced winning round. Onto the next one.
