Seaton Carew Golf Club was founded in 1874, making it one of the oldest golf clubs in England. The club's Micklem Course, originally laid out in the 1890s by Dr. Alister MacKenzie, has seen several modifications over the years, respecting its historical roots while adapting to modern play.+The course's proximity to the sea introduces elements of wind and changing conditions, making every round a unique experience. Golfers must contend with the coastal breeze, adding an extra layer of strategy and skill to their play. The fairways and greens are meticulously maintained, offering a rewarding golfing experience for players of all skill levels.+The layout begins with relatively open fairways but soon demands accuracy and strategic play, especially around the greens, which are well-defended by pot bunkers and subtle contours. The finishing holes are particularly strong, providing a stern test and a memorable conclusion to the round.+The course weaves through 375 acres of scenic countryside on the banks of the River Tees, offering a blend of natural beauty and golfing challenge. It features three lakes, eight reed beds, and extensive drainage and irrigation systems, which ensure excellent playing conditions year-round. Five tee boxes per hole cater to golfers of all standards—from novices to elite players.
