Wynyard's Wellington Course delivered a truly memorable day of championship golf — clear blue skies, immaculate parkland conditions, and a winning pair who put together a stunning score despite a couple of bumps along the way.

Course Highlights

Set within the stunning parkland of the Wynyard Estate, Wynyard Golf Club's Wellington Course offers a true championship golfing experience. The 18-hole, par-72 layout provides a memorable test of golf — tree-lined fairways, subtle elevation changes, strategically positioned bunkers, and beautifully maintained greens all demanding accuracy, strategy, and thoughtful course management.

Surrounded by mature woodland and natural features, each hole offers its own character — from challenging tee shots to rewarding approach play and fast, true putting surfaces. With its excellent drainage, year-round playability, and expertly maintained fairways, Wynyard delivers a challenging yet genuinely enjoyable course for golfers of all standards.

Weather Conditions

A fantastic day for golf. Clear blue skies, warm sunshine, and a gentle breeze created perfect playing conditions from start to finish. The comfortable temperature made it a pleasure to be out on the course, allowing golfers to fully enjoy the surroundings and the challenge of the layout without the heat ever becoming overwhelming. A truly enjoyable day on the fairways.

Memorable Moments

Best Dressed honours went to Andrew Dinsdale and Matthew Devlin, who not only looked the part but backed it up with their play — finishing in an impressive 2nd place on the leaderboard. A proper double-up, and a worthy nod for bringing the look to match the golf.

Tournament Highlights

The course was in fantastic condition, with lush green fairways and excellent irrigation making it a real pleasure to play.

The scoring story of the day came from the winning pair — Steve Mews and Chris Clarkson posted an impressive 45 points despite recording two 1-pointers on their card. To rack up a number that good with a couple of blemishes along the way tells you everything you need to know about the quality of the rest of their round.

The 2s competition was also a real highlight — a brilliant 10 twos were recorded across the field, with each player walking away with £35. Plenty of sharp iron play on show.

Winners

Huge congratulations to Steve Mews and Chris Clarkson, who took the top spot with a superb 45 points. A brilliant round on a course of this calibre and a thoroughly deserved win — and Steve made it a double-up, also picking up Nearest the Pin on the 17th.

In the runners-up spot were Andrew Dinsdale and Matthew Devlin with a strong 44 points — a fantastic effort just a single point off the top of the leaderboard, and a proper Best Dressed / runners-up double for the pair.
