Storms, Scenery & Standout Golf at Turnberry

Few venues in golf can match the drama, beauty, and sheer prestige of Trump Turnberry, and over two unforgettable days, our golfers experienced everything this iconic destination has to offer — from breathtaking coastal views to truly testing championship conditions.

Day 1 – King Robert the Bruce Course

The event began on the spectacular King Robert the Bruce Course, where players were treated to some of the most stunning scenery in UK golf.

From the moment golfers made the turn, the course truly came alive — with sweeping views across the coastline, the unmistakable silhouette of Ailsa Craig, and the historic lighthouse and castle ruins, believed to be the birthplace of King Robert the Bruce himself.

The weather brought a mix of squally showers and a moderate breeze, adding just enough challenge to keep players on their toes without taking away from the enjoyment of the day.

Despite the conditions, there was some excellent golf on display.
🏆 Gareth Jenkins & Josh Taylor took the Day 1 victory with an impressive 43 points, helped by clutch birdies from Josh on the par-3 6th and the long 500-yard par-5 14th — a performance that set the tone for the competition.

Day 2 – The Ailsa Championship Course

Day 2 saw golfers step onto one of the most iconic layouts in world golf — the Ailsa Championship Course.

A course that needs little introduction, the Ailsa is packed with unforgettable holes, but for many, the standout was the world-famous par-3 9th, “The Lighthouse Hole.” Playing 168 yards for our competitors (and a daunting 248 yards from the back tees), it remains one of the most photographed and talked-about holes in the game.

Close behind was the incredible par-5 10th, sweeping around the bay and offering one of the most dramatic tee shots in golf.

If Day 1 was a gentle test… Day 2 was anything but.

Golfers battled storm-force winds exceeding 50mph, combined with driving rain and even sideways hail — proper links golf at its most brutal and brilliant.

Incredibly, despite the extreme conditions, scoring remained remarkably competitive.
Three teams managed to post 40 points, a testament to both skill and resilience.

Among the standout performances:

Nico Beukman & Luaan Graham, with Nico (hcp 10.7) producing a superb back-nine run, birdieing holes 10, 11, and 13

Craig & Abigail Stirling, with Abigail (hcp 23.8) delivering crucial contributions including net eagles on holes 7 and 16

A True Test of Links Golf

From sunshine and scenic views to winds, rain, and relentless challenges, this Turnberry event had it all.

It was a week that perfectly showcased what makes links golf so special — unpredictable conditions, world-class courses, and unforgettable moments shared among great company.
