Sunshine at Tidworth Garrison Golf Club

Set deep in the heart of “army country” on Salisbury Plain, Tidworth Garrison Golf Club provided the perfect stage for a fantastic day of competitive golf. With its rolling downland layout and strategic demands, the course offered a true test for all players in the field.

A Thinking Golfer’s Course

Tidworth is a course that rewards precision and smart decision-making. Despite not being the longest layout, its undulating terrain and lack of flat lies mean every shot requires careful planning.

Ball placement is key throughout, and the challenge doesn’t ease up on the greens, quick, slick, and full of movement, they kept golfers on their toes right until the final putt.

Weather & Conditions

Golfers were treated to a glorious day, with sunshine throughout and just a light breeze to keep things comfortable. With many players opting for shorts, it certainly didn’t feel like early spring, perfect conditions for a day on the course.

Tournament Highlights

There was some exceptional golf on display, particularly in the gross competition, where the top two teams were paired together, adding an extra layer of pressure and excitement.

Both teams finished on two-under gross, but it was Luke Prestoe & Dan Taylor who edged ahead on the back nine, firing a superb -3 over the final stretch to take the honours.

Another standout moment came early in the day, with the nearest the pin being set at just 2 feet by a player in the very first group, a target that proved unbeatable throughout the round.
