A genuinely quirky inland links, warm and windy conditions to test the field, greens stimping at a properly lightning 12, and a countback finish at the top of the leaderboard — The Inspiration served up a memorable day of Golf Pairs action.

Course Highlights

The Inspiration is a properly one-of-a-kind venue — a very quirky inland links layout that stands out from anything else on the calendar. Links-style character transported inland, with all the strategic thinking, firm ground, and ever-shifting demands that come with it. Not something you see every day, and a course that keeps every player thinking from tee to green.

Weather Conditions

Warm and windy throughout — proper links weather brought inland. Add in greens reading a lightning-fast 12 on the stimp, and it made for a genuinely demanding day. Fast greens and a stiff breeze is a combination that rewards proper touch and punishes anything loose.

Winners

The top of the leaderboard couldn't have been any closer — two pairs tied on 44 points, with the title decided on countback.

Huge congratulations to Naveed Islam and Peter Betts, who took the top spot with a superb 44 points — sealed on countback. A brilliant round in tricky conditions and a thoroughly deserved win. This is now back-to-back wins for Naveed and Peter, who also topped the leaderboard at The Grove recently. Genuinely in great form as a pairing.

A massive well played to Ray Walkham and Steve Gatfield in the runners-up spot, matching the winning score of 44 points. A fantastic effort and desperately unlucky to come out on the wrong side of countback.
