The Carrick 2 Days 2026

A championship-standard course straddling the Highland fault line, two contrasting days of Scottish golf, a hole in one on Day 2, and some seriously impressive scoring across both leaderboards — The Carrick delivered another memorable two days of Golf Pairs action.

Course Highlights

The Carrick on Loch Lomond is a championship-standard, par-71 course straddling the Highland fault line — one of the most unique golf courses in Scotland. It features stunning contrasting landscapes, playing nine holes in the Scottish Lowlands and nine in the Highlands. Known for its scenic beauty, the course offers panoramic views of Loch Lomond and Ben Lomond throughout.

The front nine are set on relatively flat, lowland ground with water hazards, while the back nine climb up into more rugged heathland terrain — it's the only golf course in Scotland uniquely split across the actual Lowland and Highland boundary lines.

The signature hole comes on the 14th, "Tappit Doon" — an iconic, severely downhill par-3 that is heavily elevated and offers panoramic, picture-perfect views across the loch. The kind of hole you don't forget in a hurry.

Day 1

Weather Conditions

Overcast with the odd shower, and a wind that picked up through the afternoon. Thankfully, the threatened thunderstorms never materialised — meaning the field got through the day without any major disruption.

Memorable Moments

A really strong turnout of familiar faces on Day 1, with a good number of returning golfers from previous years — always great to see the event pulling players back year after year.

A special mention also to the 'Ladies from Liverpool' — an all-female four-ball of Lynne Smith (who won the Longest Drive), Jan Peace, Norah Parr (who won the Nearest the Pin prize), and Sue Hadden. A brilliant sight on the course and a great story from the day.

Tournament Highlights

Aaron Baillie (19.4) and Curtis Egan (2.0) topped the WHS leaderboard with a superb 45 points, including 4 birdies and 9 pars — genuinely classy scoring from tee to green.

Best Gross of the day belonged to Charles Bradley (+0.1) and Gareth Bradley (+0.9), who put together a stunning 66 (-5) — a proper masterclass in low-handicap golf.

The 4 Hole Contest went to Roger McLean (8.5) and Jim Stevenson (11.1) with 12 points, powered by birdies from Roger on the 4th and 8th, and a solid par from Jim on the 12th.

Day 2

Weather Conditions

Mostly sunny with a moderate breeze, and a few showers rolling in near the end of the day. Much friendlier scoring conditions overall, and the field responded with some seriously strong golf.

Memorable Moments

The headline moment of Day 2 came on the 138-yard 2nd hole, where Paul Newell (HCP 3.3) sealed a brilliant hole in one. Paul plays his golf at Stanton-on-the-Wolds Golf Club in Nottinghamshire — a card he'll be framing for a long time.

Tournament Highlights

First pair on the tee on Sunday shot the best round of the day — Ty (0.8) and Aaron Sterry (24.8) posting a superb 46 Stableford points. Their gross 68 was also the equal-lowest gross score of the day, matched by Martin (0.3) and Neil McGillivray (7.5).

Those scores were enough to see the pairs finish first and second respectively in the overall leaderboard — Aaron and Ty on 85 points across two rounds, just one clear of Martin and Neil.

It wasn't quite enough to catch the Bradleys on the overall Gross leaderboard though — Charles (+0.1) and Gareth Bradley (+0.9) finished 2 shots clear on -6 over the two rounds to take Best Overall Gross

Overall Winners

Huge congratulations to Ty and Aaron Sterry, who took the overall top spot with 85 points across two rounds — a brilliant weekend of golf and a hard-earned win by a single point.

Just behind in the overall runners-up spot were Martin and Neil McGillivray — matching the winning pair's gross on Day 2 and finishing just a single point off the top of the leaderboard. A fantastic effort.

Best Overall Gross went to Charles and Gareth Bradley — -6 over the two rounds and clear at the top of the Gross standings. A truly outstanding two days from the pair.

A brilliant two days on one of Scotland's most unique golf courses. Thanks to everyone who made the trip up, to The Carrick for hosting us so well, and huge congratulations to all our winners — from Ty and Aaron on the overall win, to the Bradleys on their Best Gross double, and to Paul for a hole in one that will be talked about for a long time. Already looking forward to next year's Carrick 2 Days.
