Classic design, endless sunshine, countryside views, and a few celebrity sightings thrown in for good measure — Sunningdale delivered a truly bucket-list day from start to finish.

Course Highlights

Sunningdale needs no introduction. A genuine icon of English golf, the course offers classic heathland design, stunning countryside views, and the kind of pedigree that makes simply teeing it up here feel like an occasion. For many of our golfers — and indeed for some of the Golf Pairs team — this was a first visit, and one that absolutely lived up to the hype. The course was in immaculate condition, and the whole day had that special feel that only a venue of this calibre can deliver.

Weather Conditions

Hot, hot, and hot. The sunshine showed up in full force, with proper summer warmth across the morning, before a slight breeze and a few clouds rolled in during the afternoon to take the edge off. Beautiful conditions overall — the kind of day where bucket lists get well and truly ticked.

Memorable Moments

The day delivered moments to remember on every front. From the endless food supply — buffet breakfast, a three-course carvery, halfway house refreshments, and afternoon light bites — to the friendly and efficient staff who somehow made it feel like we had the place to ourselves, despite three big events running on the same day. A genuinely well-oiled machine, and a reminder of why Sunningdale's reputation extends well beyond the golf itself.

And then there were the celebrity sightings. Sam Torrance and Jamie Redknapp both made an appearance during the day, and some of our guests were lucky enough to have a chat — exactly the kind of "you'll never guess who I bumped into" moment that this venue specialises in.

Tournament Highlights

With two full fields playing AM and PM, the day produced a packed leaderboard and plenty of stories on both sides of the draw. Strong scoring across the board, and a combined overall leaderboard that brought the best of both halves of the day together.
