Sonning 2025

Sunrise, Birdsong & Brilliant Golf at Sonning Golf Club

As the 1st of October dawned, we arrived at Sonning Golf Club under a dark, early-morning sky. But as the sun began to rise, a golden glow stretched across the fairways — the perfect sign that we were in for a beautiful autumn day.

Our morning began in the Pro Shop, where registration was in full swing and excitement was already buzzing among the golfers. From there, the day unfolded seamlessly into the welcoming clubhouse, with players later spilling out onto the spacious terrace to soak up the sunshine and share stories from the course.

Sonning truly delivered a day to remember — a picturesque and peaceful course that’s home to wonderful wildlife. Red kites soared gracefully overhead, and a family of deer watched on from near the 13th green, adding to the natural charm of the surroundings.

Designed by the five-time Open Champion J.H. Taylor, with later refinements by the legendary Harry Colt, Sonning’s course offered both elegance and challenge — a true classic that continues to stand the test of time.
