Seaton Carew delivered everything you'd want from a links day — dramatic coastal views, four seasons of weather in one round, and a winning score that turned heads on the leaderboard.

Course Highlights

There aren't many courses with a setting quite like Seaton Carew. Perched on the north-east coast with sweeping sea views one way and a striking industrial landscape the other, it's a venue that gives you something to look at on every hole. It's a proper links test too — firm fairways, exposed lines, and the kind of subtle challenges that reward good thinking and punish anything loose. A genuinely memorable place to play.

Weather Conditions

Seaton Carew threw the full menu at the field. Sunny intervals had players reaching for the sun cream, then the heavens opened with heavy rain, and the high winds kept things interesting throughout. Classic links conditions — the kind of day where adapting your game from hole to hole matters as much as your swing itself. Hats off to everyone who battled through it.

Memorable Moments

The shot of the day came on the par-4 1st — and what an opening statement it was. Someone managed to drive the green at a hefty 360 yards. A massive strike, and exactly the kind of moment that gets people talking in the clubhouse afterwards. Not a bad way to start your round.

Tournament Highlights

A huge winning score of 48 points was the headline from the leaderboard. To put up a number like that on a links course in those conditions takes real quality — controlled ball-striking, smart course management, and the nerve to keep going when the wind and rain made things tricky.

Winners

Massive congratulations to Matthew Calvey and David Ward, who lifted the top prize with an outstanding 48 points. A fantastic round in difficult conditions and a thoroughly deserved win.

Just a single point behind in the runners-up spot were Andrew Stacey and Gareth Petch with a brilliant 47 points — the kind of score that would have won most events, and a real testament to how well they played on the day.
