Ross-on-Wye 2026
Share
After a week of rain, Ross-on-Wye delivered exactly what we needed — sunshine, fast greens, and plenty of birdie opportunities on the par-5s. Add in some brilliant scoring, a new face in the winners' enclosure, and a near-ace on the 17th, and it was a day to remember.
Course Highlights
Ross-on-Wye was in cracking shape. The greens were in great condition and rolled beautifully, and a few of the par-5s opened up nicely for those willing to take them on — plenty of birdie opportunities for anyone with the nerve to attack. After a week of dreary weather, it was a real pleasure to see the sun out and the course playing at its best.
Weather Conditions
Sunny throughout, with some muggy periods sneaking in but no rain in sight all day. After everything the week had thrown at us, dry conditions felt like a small miracle — and the field certainly made the most of them.
Memorable Moments
A warm welcome to Tony Lewis and Andrew Oliver, who joined us for the first time and took home the 'Just for Fun' category — our category for any golfers without a handicap. A brilliant debut and exactly the kind of result we love to see for new faces.
Charlie Jones also had a day to remember, racking up an incredible five birdies on the front nine on his way to claiming the best gross prize alongside playing partner Luke Clark. Front-nine scoring of that quality is no small feat.
And it nearly got even better on the 17th — Scott Lewis came within a whisker of a hole in one, finishing up just 2 feet from the pin. So close, but a brilliant moment all the same.
Tournament Highlights
A standout day on plenty of fronts — the rain holding off, the pace of play, and seeing so many returning customers from last season come back to us. Add to that the 315-yard bomb from Kyle Burgess on the tricky 14th (stroke index 1, no less), and it was a day full of stories from start to finish.
Winners
The top of the leaderboard couldn't have been any closer. Chris Williams and Dale King edged out Ben Jones and Jake Williams on countback, with both pairs finishing on 45 points — the kind of finish where every point on the back nine genuinely mattered.
Huge congratulations to Chris and Dale on taking the top spot, and a massive well played to Ben and Jake, who were desperately unlucky on countback.
In the runners-up spot were Shane Quinlan and Aaron Rid with a strong 44 points — a brilliant effort right in the mix at the top.
Best Gross honours went to Luke Clark and Charlie Jones with 42 points — anchored, of course, by Charlie's stunning front nine.
On the Course
Plenty of action away from the main leaderboard too:
- Longest Drive (14th) — Kyle Burgess (315 yards on stroke index 1!)
- Nearest the Pin (17th) — Scott Lewis (2 feet from a hole in one!)
Well played to both for stepping up when it mattered.
A brilliant day's golf at a really enjoyable venue. Thanks to everyone who played, to Ross-on-Wye Golf Club for hosting us so well, and huge congratulations once again to Chris and Dale on a hard-earned win. Great to see so many familiar faces back from last season — and a warm welcome to Tony, Andrew, and everyone else joining us for the first time. Onto the next one.
