Championship links golf at its finest, 160+ golfers under beautiful Kent sunshine, an Open Championship pedigree stretching back to 1932, and one of the country's most impressive coastal venues on top form — Prince's served up a truly memorable day of Golf Pairs action.

Course Highlights

Prince's is a very special place to host a golf event. Set alongside the coast at Sandwich Bay, the club offers 27 holes of championship links golf, made up of three distinctive nine-hole loops — Shore, Dunes, and Himalayas.

Today, our golfers took on Dunes & Himalayas — a fantastic 18-hole combination that provided everything you'd expect from classic links golf: undulating fairways, challenging bunkers, coastal winds, and plenty of opportunities to make a great score... or lose a few shots along the way.

The Dunes and Himalayas loops each offer their own character, ensuring the 18 holes never feel repetitive. The combination makes for a genuine test of strategy, accuracy, and — of course — the ability to keep the ball under control when the links start to bite.

Prince's pedigree speaks for itself. The club was a finalist for Golf Course of the Year 2025, recognition that reflects just how highly regarded the venue has become. Its history stretches back to hosting the 1932 Open Championship, won by Gene Sarazen, and it has hosted major championships and high-level amateur golf throughout the years. Recent significant redevelopment has helped establish it as one of the standout links experiences in Britain.

Standing on the tee today, with the Kent coastline stretching into the distance, it was easy to understand why.

Weather Conditions

Beautiful Kent sunshine and settled conditions across the day — genuinely as good as coastal golf gets. The kind of day where the course got every chance to shine and the field made the most of it.

The Lodge

For those making a proper golf break of the occasion, Prince's has another huge advantage — The Lodge. Located right at the entrance to the golf club, there's something special about being able to finish your round, put the clubs away, and not have to worry about getting back in the car.

Instead, it's time to relax, enjoy a drink, talk through the day's highlights — and perhaps debate exactly who was responsible for that missed four-footer. The Lodge also offers dining, a lounge bar, sun terrace, and direct access to the beach — making it an ideal base for a golfing getaway.

Memorable Moments

Best Dressed honours went to Murray Jones and Micky McDuff — a properly turned-out pair and a worthy nod for bringing the look to match a proper occasion of a day.

With 160+ golfers competing in pairs, the atmosphere around the club was fantastic. From the first groups heading onto the course to the final players coming home, there was a real buzz around the event. Pairs golf always brings a great mix of competition and fun — partners encouraging each other, celebrating the birdies, and trying to forget about the occasional three-putt.

WHS Leaderboard Winners

Huge congratulations to George Fleming and Louis Ramsey, who took the top spot on the day. A brilliant round on a course of Prince's calibre and a thoroughly deserved win.

Standout Individual Performances

Special mention to Luke Hargreaves, who picked up two Nearest the Pin prizes on the day (2nd and 16th) — genuinely sharp iron play across both nines.

Billy Rolleston also had a proper day out — Men's Longest Drive on the 9th plus a Gross runners-up finish. Nice work.

Rhydian Morgan & Jamie Thomas doubled up too — 4th WHS + 1st Gross — after their strong showing at Royal Cinque Ports earlier this season. Serious form.

And Robert Harris joined the double-up club as well — 2nd WHS + Nearest the Pin on the 14th.

Today was everything you could ask for from a golf event. 160+ golfers. Pairs competition. Championship links golf. Beautiful Kent sunshine. And one of the country's most impressive coastal golf venues. Dunes & Himalayas certainly provided the challenge, while Prince's delivered the setting and atmosphere to match.
