The Tour
Few counties in England match Northumberland for dramatic coastline, historic backdrops, and pure atmosphere. This year's four-day trip brought together an outstanding mix of venues — from castle-fringed links at Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh, to the genuinely one-of-a-kind Northumberland Club playing inside a racecourse, and finishing with a proper Northumberland links test at Newbiggin. Four courses, four distinct experiences, and a warm-and-windy week of golf that will live long in the memory.
Weather Conditions
Warm and windy was the theme of the week across all four days. Genuinely pleasant temperatures throughout, but with a proper Northumberland breeze making club selection and shot shape matter twice as much. Classic coastal golf weather at its most enjoyable.
Day 1 — Bamburgh Castle
Course Highlights
Bamburgh Castle Golf Club is a course that gets by on views alone — genuinely spectacular scenery across every hole, with the iconic castle providing an unforgettable backdrop. A properly special place to open a Northumberland tour.
Memorable Moments
The moment of Day 1 belonged to Peter Holford, who bagged a stunning hole in one — a card he'll be framing for a long time. Congratulations Peter!

Day 2 — Dunstanburgh Castle
Course Highlights
Day 2 delivered yet more spectacular Northumberland scenery — with Dunstanburgh Castle's dramatic ruins framing the course throughout. A properly cinematic setting and one that never gets old.
Memorable Moments
Back-to-back holes in one across the trip — this time from Ali Rushworth on Day 2! A genuinely brilliant moment and one of the standout performances of the week.
Special mention also to the club chef — who came out to mark a card before returning to the clubhouse and producing what were reportedly some of the most awesome pizzas anyone in the field had eaten. Above and beyond, and much appreciated!

Day 3 — The Northumberland Club
Course Highlights
Day 3 delivered one of the most genuinely unique layouts on the calendar — The Northumberland Club sits in the middle of a racetrack, wrapping around Gosforth Park's historic racecourse. Not something you see every day, and a properly memorable experience.
Tournament Highlights
The scoring headline of the trip came today — a stunning 51 points from the winning pair! Genuinely elite team golf, and a properly high bar to set on Day 3.

Day 4 — Newbiggin
Course Highlights
The tour wrapped up at Newbiggin — a proper Northumberland links test to close the trip. The greens were reading a whopping 12 on the stimp — genuinely lightning-fast surfaces that demanded proper touch on every approach and putt. A serious final day of golf.
Weather Conditions
Warm and very windy — the wind cranked up an extra notch for the final day, adding an extra dimension to an already demanding layout.
Memorable Moments
Special mention to the starter — a genuine club legend in his late 80s, a member his entire life, who stood out in his club suit from 6:45am until 4:30pm. Genuinely inspiring commitment, and the kind of character that makes clubs like Newbiggin so special.
And on the leaderboard — the winning story of the day was properly brilliant. Fiona and Neil Stevenson took the top spot with a stunning 49 points — but hilariously had no clue how many points they had when they came in. Sometimes the best rounds happen when you just play and don't count!

Standout Individual Performances
Four days across four courses brought out some genuinely brilliant individual and pair performances:
Shaun Davison and Stephen Rushton produced the most dominant golf of the trip — back-to-back Day 1 and Day 2 winners at Bamburgh Castle and Dunstanburgh Castle. Genuinely proper form across the coastal courses.
Two hole-in-ones across the trip — from Peter Holford on Day 1 and Ali Rushworth on Day 2. Both properly special moments.
Anne Gibb had a brilliant week — 51-point winner with Graham on Day 3, and Nearest the Pin winner on Day 4.
Calum Lewis picked up two Men's Longest Drive prizes across the trip (Days 2 and 3), and shared a Nearest the Pin on Day 3. Proper consistency across the fairways.
Maureen Anthony had a strong week too — a runners-up finish on Day 2 (with Jonathan) and Ladies' Longest Drive on Day 3.
A truly memorable four days across one of England's most spectacular golfing regions. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the trip, to Bamburgh Castle, Dunstanburgh Castle, The Northumberland Club, and Newbiggin for hosting us so superbly, and huge congratulations to all our winners across the week.
Special mention too to the pizza-making, card-marking chef at Dunstanburgh and the 80-something starter at Newbiggin — the kind of characters that make Northumberland golf what it is. Already looking forward to next year's trip.
