Warm sunshine, a genuinely once-in-a-lifetime backdrop as a solar eclipse rolled across the sky mid-round, best-dressed winners channelling the occasion in style, and a lovely husband-and-wife win at the top of the leaderboard — Lincoln served up a truly memorable day of Golf Pairs action.

Course Highlights

Lincoln Golf Club offers up a genuinely distinctive layout — a parkland and inland-links blend that gives it real playability throughout much of the year. A course with proper pedigree behind it too, having hosted major events including the Lincolnshire Amateur, Lincolnshire Open, and the England Golf Reid Trophy. A venue with real championship history and a properly enjoyable day out.

Weather Conditions

Warm and sunny throughout — but with the added bonus of a genuinely spectacular solar eclipse taking place during play. Not something you get in a normal weather report, and one of those rare moments where the setting outshines the golf. Beautiful conditions all round.

Memorable Moments

Not many rounds of golf can say they were played during a solar eclipse, but today's field can. A genuinely unforgettable natural moment, and the kind of thing that will be remembered long after the scorecards are put away.

Best Dressed honours went to Sue and Peter Drake — a properly turned-out pair and a worthy nod. And Sue made it a proper double, going on to pick up the Ladies' Longest Drive too. A great day out.

Winners

Huge congratulations to Susannah Wilby and Andy Wilby, who took the top spot on the day. A brilliant round in glorious sunshine (and eclipse-shade!) and a lovely husband-and-wife win at the top of the leaderboard.

In the runners-up spot were Ryan Bates and Luke Hargreaves — a fantastic effort and a strong finish. Luke had a great day out too, adding another solid result to his standout Nearest the Pin double at Prince's earlier this season. Serious form.
