Isle of Purbeck Autumn Singles – A Glorious Day of Golf
Under clear blue skies and barely a breath of wind, golfers gathered for the Isle of Purbeck Autumn Singles — a rare day of calm at one of Dorset’s most scenic and challenging golf courses. The weather couldn’t have been more inviting, with the sun shining from start to finish and visibility stretching for miles across Poole Harbour and the Isle of Wight. It was one of those special days where the setting alone made it worth turning up early and staying long after the last putt had dropped.
A Classic Course with a Testing Edge
The Isle of Purbeck Golf Club is famed not just for its breathtaking views, but for its strategic design and natural contours that test every aspect of a golfer’s game. With sloping fairways, elevated greens, and the ever-present gorse waiting to punish wayward shots, it’s a course that rewards accuracy and patience in equal measure. Even on a calm day, the layout demands full concentration. We were reminded just how challenging the course can be when, in 2024, the average score for the same event was just 25 points—proof that even when the conditions are kind, Isle of Purbeck is never an easy ride.
