Four days, four spectacular Highland golf courses, some world-class scoring, an international field, an eagle putt from off the green, and stunning Moray Firth scenery on every horizon — the 2026 Inverness 4 Days delivered an unforgettable trip to one of golf's most beautiful corners.
The Tour
The Inverness area is genuinely one of the great destinations in world golf — a coastline dotted with links masterpieces old and new, mountain views on every horizon, and the kind of setting that makes every round feel like an occasion. This year's four-day trip brought together an outstanding mix of venues: a historic 18th-century links, two modern Moray Firth masterpieces, and a contemporary championship layout to finish. Truly a trip of a lifetime.
We were also joined by a genuinely international field this week — Luc and Inge from Belgium, Borja and Juan from Spain, Patrick Harrison from the USA, and Jose, Nuno, Miguel, Vitor, Luis and Joseph from Portugal. Wonderful to have you all with us — hope you enjoyed the Highlands as much as they clearly enjoyed hosting you.
Day 1 — Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club
Course Highlights
Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club is a historic 18-hole links course on the Chanonry Peninsula in the Scottish Highlands, about 20 minutes north of Inverness. Founded in 1793 — records place it as the 15th oldest golf club in the world — the current layout was redesigned by the legendary James Braid in 1932.
On clear days, players enjoy panoramic coastal views alongside the iconic Chanonry Point lighthouse and distant snow-capped mountains. And in a genuinely special touch, bottlenose dolphins are frequently spotted playing in the waters right next to the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th holes. There aren't many courses in the world where dolphins are part of the scenery.
Weather Conditions
Overcast, but unusually for a Scottish links, very little wind. Genuinely calm conditions — a rare and welcome gift.
Tournament Highlights
Danny Clayton (4.9) and Paul Thompson (13.5) won the WHS competition with a brilliant 48 points, just edging out Jose Miguel Rollm (15.7) and Nuno Grande (12.6) by a single shot.
The Gross competition was extremely tight — three teams tied at 41 points: Finlay Hedges and Ben Lovell, Jay Reader and Josh Johnson, and Golf Pairs' very own Tom Phillpotts and Harry Cater.

Day 2 — Cabot Highlands (Castle Stuart)
Course Highlights
Castle Stuart Golf Links is a modern links masterpiece overlooking the Moray Firth. Nearly every hole offers sweeping sea views, framed by rugged gorse, heather, and coastal bluffs. Designed by Gil Hanse and Mark Parsinen, the course is built to be fun and visually grand rather than overly punishing — wide fairways alongside strategic hazards, and several green complexes sitting on elevated shelves that appear to drop directly into the waters of the Moray Firth.
Weather Conditions
A bright and calm start, but the rain soon rolled in — and the afternoon starters had to contend with more wind and torrential downpours. Two very different experiences of the course depending on tee time.
Memorable Moments
The shot of the day belonged to Ross Crick (6.5), who holed a monster putt from off the green at the 508-yard par-5 18th for an eagle. What a way to finish a round on a course of this calibre.
Tournament Highlights
Ross Mackinnon (12.0) and Alex Carter (3.2) took the WHS division with 47 points — a clear two-shot margin over Jose Miguel Rollm and Nuno Grande in second.
Finlay Hedges (3.5) and Ben Lovell (+0.7) won the Scratch competition on countback with a stunning 3-under-par 69.

Day 3 — Cabot Highlands (Old Petty)
Course Highlights
Created by acclaimed architect Tom Doak and lead associate Clyde Johnson, Old Petty is named after the historic Old Petty church built nearby in 1839. Set along the Moray Firth tidal estuary, sitting right beside the original Castle Stuart course, it features strategic fescue fairways and a dramatic routing past the 400-year-old castle.
Weather Conditions
A couple of showers for the early starters, then dry with sunny spells for most of the day.
Memorable Moments
Ben Lovell (+0.7) produced the round of the trip — a stunning 67 gross with his own ball (4-under par). Genuinely elite golf on a Tom Doak design.
Tournament Highlights
First place went to the father-and-son team of Ian (10.2) and Harry Brotherton (14.5) with a superb 47 points — just beating George Fleming (8.9) and Louis Ramsey (6.8) on countback. A lovely father-and-son result.
Finlay Hedges and Ben Lovell continued their sensational form with an incredible gross 65 (-6) to win the Scratch division. Genuinely world-class scoring.

Day 4 — Kings Golf Club
Course Highlights
A contemporary championship-standard venue, Kings Golf Club provides a scenic 18-hole journey across the rolling Highland hills — with exceptional vistas of the city and top-tier, award-winning amenities. Designed by Stuart Rennieand opened in 2019 on the former Torvean Golf Club site, it features generous fairways and strategic hazards throughout.
Weather Conditions
A few light showers in the morning, but mostly dry with sunny spells for the rest of the day.
Tournament Highlights
The Portuguese contingent got their moment in the sun — Miguel Heliodoro (9.0) and Vitor Antonio (6.0) taking the WHS title with a brilliant 47 points.
Jay Reader and Josh Johnson carded the best Gross round of the day — a superb 3-under-par 69.

Standout Individual Performances
Four days across four courses brought out some genuinely remarkable individual performances:
Finlay Hedges and Ben Lovell were the pair of the trip in the Gross competition — tied for Gross on Day 1, Scratch winners on Day 2 (69, -3), and stunning Scratch winners again on Day 3 with a 65 (-6). Genuinely world-class scoring on Highland courses.
Ben Lovell in particular produced a highlight-reel round on Day 3 — a 67 gross with his own ball (-4) on a Tom Doak design.
Ross Crick's eagle on the 508-yard 18th at Castle Stuart — holed from off the green — was the shot of the trip.
Jose Miguel Rollm and Nuno Grande deserve a huge mention too — runners-up on both Day 1 and Day 2. Genuinely consistent brilliant golf from the Portuguese pair.
And a nice father-and-son storyline on Day 3 with the Brotherton win — always a special result to share.
A truly memorable four days across four of the Highlands' finest golf courses. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the trip — including our brilliant international field — to Fortrose and Rosemarkie, Castle Stuart, Old Petty, and Kings Golf Club for hosting us so superbly, and huge congratulations to all our winners across the week.
