Hartlepool Golf Club delivered a memorable day in the north-east, with cracking links golf, dramatic coastal scenery, and a deserving pair lifting the trophy.

Course Highlights

Hartlepool is a course that feels properly earned with every shot. Sweeping sea views, towering sand dunes, and the kind of natural shaping that only decades of coastal wind can carve — it's classic links country at its best. The dunes in particular make for some spectacular vantage points, and a few testing blind shots that keep you honest off the tee.

Weather Conditions

Hartlepool gave the field a bit of everything. Sunny intervals teased players into thinking it might be a calm one, before heavy rain and high winds rolled in to remind everyone they were on the north-east coast in links country. Tough conditions, but classic links weather — the kind of day where keeping the ball low and the patience high paid dividends.

Memorable Moments

The standout storyline of the day was watching the day 1 champions carry their trophy straight into day 2 — and back it up with another title-winning performance. Going low once on a links course is hard enough; doing it twice in difficult conditions is something else entirely. A brilliant effort and a real talking point in the clubhouse.

Tournament Highlights

A winning score of 46 points topped the leaderboard — a tremendous number given the wind and rain that swept through. On a course like Hartlepool, that kind of total takes consistency, course management, and the ability to stay composed when the weather turns.

Winners

A massive congratulations to Matthew Calvey and David Ward, who took the top spot at Hartlepool with a superb 46 points. A brilliant performance on a demanding links course and a thoroughly deserved win.

Hot on their heels were Peter Brotherhood and Alex Rochester in the runners-up spot with 45 points, just a single point off the pace. A fantastic effort, and a score that would have won plenty of other days.
