Hampshire 3 Days 2026

Three days, three courses, three completely different styles of golf — the 2026 Hampshire Tour served up a memorable long weekend across classic heathland, traditional links, and modern chalk downland. And with one pair sitting comfortably at the top of the overall leaderboard by the end of it, the trip produced a truly outstanding winning story too.

There is something special about a golfing tour in Hampshire. Within a relatively small area you can experience three completely different styles of golf, and this year's trip brought together three outstanding venues — each with its own character, history, and architectural identity — for a memorable golfing adventure.

Day 1 — Stoneham Golf Club

Course Highlights

Founded in 1908, Stoneham Golf Club is one of England's finest inland courses and a wonderful example of the work of legendary architect Willie Park Jr. — the two-time Open Champion who also designed Sunningdale's famous Old Course. Built across an ancient deer park on the outskirts of Southampton, Stoneham has earned a reputation as one of the country's hidden gems, regularly featuring in rankings of England's top 100 courses.

The course is a superb blend of heathland and parkland, routed across naturally undulating terrain that ensures very few level lies throughout the round. Measuring just over 6,400 yards, it relies far more on strategic thinking than brute strength. Small, well-protected greens demand precision, while the unusual balance of five par-3s and five par-5s creates variety rarely found elsewhere. Every hole has its own identity, with the rolling landscape providing constant changes in elevation and angle that reward thoughtful course management.

Day 2 — Hayling Island Golf Club

Course Highlights

Established in 1883, Hayling Island Golf Club is one of England's oldest and most celebrated links courses. Originally created through the vision of Fleetwood Sandeman, the course has evolved over more than a century with contributions from renowned architects including Tom Dunn, J.H. Taylor, Harry Colt, and Tom Simpson. Situated on natural linksland overlooking the Solent, Hayling combines rich golfing heritage with a classic seaside setting that has challenged golfers for generations.

The layout is everything a traditional links enthusiast could hope for: firm-running fairways, natural dunes, revetted bunkers, and ever-present coastal winds that ensure no two rounds are ever the same. Strategy outweighs power, with the course demanding imagination, trajectory control, and intelligent shot placement. The routing flows naturally across the links terrain, offering a timeless golfing experience where the conditions often become the course's greatest defence.

Day 3 — South Winchester Golf Club

Course Highlights

South Winchester Golf Club offered a striking contrast to the previous two days. Opened in 1993 and designed by the respected architect Peter Alliss in partnership with Dave Thomas, the course sits high on the Hampshire Downs, providing spectacular panoramic views across the surrounding countryside. Although comparatively modern, it has quickly established itself as one of the county's premier inland venues thanks to its championship-standard design and immaculate conditioning.

The layout makes full use of the rolling chalk downland, with generous fairways, dramatic elevation changes, and large undulating greens that place a premium on accurate approach play. Water hazards and carefully positioned bunkers add strategic interest throughout, while the exposed nature of the site means the wind frequently becomes a significant factor. The result is a challenging yet highly enjoyable course that provided a fitting finale to the tour.

With three completely different tests of golf to navigate, consistency was everything — and one pair set themselves apart from the rest.

Huge congratulations to Tom Fulker and Paul O'Hagan, who took the overall three-day title at -23 — an outstanding effort across every style of course the tour threw at them. Day 1 winners, Day 2 winners, back-to-back 4 Hole Contest winners... a proper dominant weekend.

A massive well played to Stuart Crane and Patrick Crane in second overall at -21 — brilliantly consistent across all three days.
