Sunny intervals and heavy showers, the fastest greens we've seen all season, a monster drive from a player who very nearly made it a double, and some really strong scoring despite the mixed conditions — Hallamshire served up a memorable day of Golf Pairs action.

Course Highlights

Hallamshire Golf Club is an 18-hole heathland course in Sheffield, sitting between the city and the Peak District. Dating back to 1897, it has a particularly strong architectural pedigree — a course with proper heritage behind it.

The course boasts classic heathland character throughout — heather, gorse, and bilberries feature heavily, with fast-draining ground and firm, hand-mown greens. A genuinely special venue and one that rewards thoughtful, precise golf.

Weather Conditions

Sunny intervals with heavy showers — a genuinely mixed bag from the skies today. Enough sunshine to enjoy the setting, and enough rain to make the field earn their scores. Classic British golf weather.

Memorable Moments

The shot of the day belonged to Dan Scott, who unleashed a massive drive on the Longest Drive hole — a proper effort and one that took the Men's Longest Drive prize with plenty to spare. A brilliant strike on a day where conditions were often anything but easy.

Tournament Highlights

Some really strong scoring despite the difficult conditions, and the field will remember today's greens for a long time — the fastest we've seen all season. Firm and lightning-quick throughout, demanding proper touch on every approach and putt.

Winners

Huge congratulations to Gareth Davies and Ben Stephens, who took the top spot on the day. A brilliant round in tricky conditions and a thoroughly deserved win.

In the runners-up spot were John Kelly and Dan Scott — a fantastic effort and a strong finish. Dan Scott in particular had a properly memorable day, adding his Men's Longest Drive prize to a runners-up finish. Nice work.
