Fleetwood served up a proper Lancashire links day — two very different halves of weather, an eagle on the closing hole, and a winner decided by a single point on the 18th green.

Course Highlights

Fleetwood Golf Club is a traditional seaside links course on the Lancashire coast, with serious heritage to back it up — it sits on one of England's oldest golfing locations. Natural links terrain, panoramic views over the Irish Sea, and full exposure to the wind make it a course where strategy, ball-flight control, and accuracy matter far more than raw power. The kind of layout that rewards good thinking and punishes anything overcooked.

Weather Conditions

A real tale of two halves. The morning groups got a proper test of links golf — sunshine overhead, but a cold breeze that made the course play noticeably longer and tougher. The afternoon field got the better end of the deal, with the wind dropping and the sun staying out. Two distinct experiences of the same course, and a reminder that on a links, your tee time can make as much difference as your swing.

Memorable Moments

The shot of the day belonged to Andy Bales, who finished off his round in spectacular style. From just over 100 yardsout on the 18th, Bales holed out for an eagle 2 — a dream way to walk off the course, and the kind of finish that earns you a few drinks in the clubhouse afterwards.

Tournament Highlights

The top of the leaderboard couldn't have been tighter. A genuine battle that went all the way to the 18th green, with the eventual winners sealing it with a 3-pointer on the closing hole to edge it by a single point.

A special mention also goes to Adam Wilson, who carded the round of the day — a gross 70 (-2), including a brilliant 3-under back nine. Scoring of that quality on a links course is no small feat, and a real highlight of the day's golf.

Winners

Huge congratulations to Michael and Peter Clarke, who took the top spot with 44 points — sealed with that all-important 3-pointer on the 18th. A brilliant finish to a tight contest and a thoroughly deserved win.

Just a single point behind in the runners-up spot were Jonathan Powell and Neil Wise with 43 points — a fantastic effort and a result that came right down to the wire.
