Four Days of Championship Golf Across Fife’s Finest Courses

From historic links steeped in Open Championship history to modern masterpieces along the coastline, our latest Scottish tour delivered four unforgettable days of golf. Across Leven Links, Scotscraig, Dumbarnie Links, and Ladybank, golfers experienced everything that makes Scottish golf so special — changing weather, world-class layouts, dramatic finishes, and incredible camaraderie.

Day 1 – Leven Links

A Historic Links Test

The tour began at the iconic Leven Links, a course rich in golfing history and widely regarded as one of Scotland’s purest links experiences.

Known for its natural dune ridges, undulating fairways, and revetted bunkers, Leven demands creativity and precision throughout. The course is also famous for its incredible finishing hole — the long par-4 18th, where players must negotiate the notorious Scoonie Burn on approach.

Leven also proudly holds its place in golf history as:

• A six-time Open Championship Final Qualifying venue

• The first course believed to feature 18 separate tees and 18 separate greens

Weather & Conditions

The early starters enjoyed calm and sunny conditions, but as the day progressed the skies darkened, the wind strengthened, and temperatures dropped dramatically — creating a much sterner test for the later groups.

International Visitors

This event welcomed golfers from across the globe:

• 🇩🇰 Claus Frandsen & Jens Vederfso Larsen returned from Denmark after previously joining our Aberdeen event

• 🇺🇸 Gary & Susan Barrow travelled from Kentucky after competing at Turnberry

• 🇵🇹 Antonio & Ganda Cencio came over from Portugal to experience four incredible Scottish courses

Tournament Highlights

Winners:
🥇 Dan Connolly & James Hampton – 46 Points

James played the three par 5s in a superb 2-under-par, helping the pair top the leaderboard.

🔥 Gross Competition:
Four teams tied on +1 gross, including Allister Pickersgill & Paul Lewis, whose hopes were dashed after both finding the infamous Scoonie Burn on the 18th.

Day 2 – Scotscraig Golfing Club

One of Scotland’s Oldest & Most Storied Courses

Founded in 1817, Scotscraig is one of Scotland’s oldest golf clubs and offers a unique blend of links and heathland golf. Rolling woodland, heather, and gorse-lined fairways create a layout unlike most traditional coastal links.

Weather & Conditions

Conditions improved significantly from Day 1, with warmer temperatures, sunshine, and only a gentle breeze throughout the day.

Memorable Moments

💥 Husband-and-wife pairing Charles & Rebecca Atkins produced a brilliantly dovetailed round to score 47 points.

Sibling rivalry also stole the spotlight:

• Fred Bradley birdied the par-3 15th

• Only for brother Robert to answer with an eagle on the very next hole!

Runners-Up:
🥈 Gary & Susan Barrow – 45 Points

🔥 Best Gross:
Richard Foster & Liam Thompson – 68 (-4)

Birdies flowed throughout the round, with Liam picking up shots on 2, 5 & 11, while Richard added birdies on 7, 8 & 13.

Day 3 – Dumbarnie Links

A Modern Classic on the Fife Coast

Opened in 2020, Dumbarnie Links has quickly earned its reputation as one of Scotland’s must-play modern links courses. Designed by Clive Clark, the course stretches along the Fife coastline with wide fairways, rolling dunes, and breathtaking views of the Firth of Forth.

While playable for all standards, the firm turf, coastal winds, and natural bounces ensure links golf remains the true challenge.

Weather & Conditions

Conditions were very similar to the previous day — mild, breezy, and ideal for scoring.

Memorable Moments

😬 One golfer suffered the ultimate near miss on the charity hole — lip-out for a hole-in-one… unfortunately after deciding not to enter the competition!

Runners-Up:
🥈 Darren Davison & Robert Sprott – 45 Points

🔥 Best Gross:
Darren Davison & Robert Sprott – 66 (-5)

Highlights included:

• Robert’s eagle on the par-5 9th

• Darren birdieing 13, 15 & 18

Day 4 – Ladybank Golf Club

A Fife Inland Classic

The tour concluded at the superb Ladybank Golf Club, designed by Old Tom Morris in 1879 and regularly ranked among Scotland’s top inland courses.

A seven-time Open Championship Final Qualifying venue, Ladybank combines heather-lined fairways with subtle strategy and shot-making demands throughout.

Weather & Conditions

An overcast and chilly morning gradually gave way to sunshine and calmer conditions in the afternoon.

Memorable Moments

👏 A standout performance came from Martin Humphreys & James Hayward, who posted 45 points — particularly impressive given James is only weeks away from his 80th birthday.

Tournament Highlights

Winners:
🥇 William Bradley & Fred Bradley – 46 Points

Fred sealed the victory in style with a superb birdie on the demanding 18th hole.

🔥 Best Gross:
Chris Spencer & Gary Byrnes – 70 (-1)

The pair teed off first at 7:30am, and their score remained unbeaten throughout the day.
