Classic Design & Countryside Views at Cricket St Thomas Golf Club
Set in the heart of the Somerset countryside, Cricket St Thomas Golf Club provided the perfect backdrop for another fantastic day of Golf Pairs competition. With its rich history, stunning views, and beautifully presented course, it’s easy to see why this venue continues to impress golfers year after year.
A Course Steeped in History
Originally designed as a 9-hole course in 1932 by five-time Open Champion J.H. Taylor, Cricket St Thomas has evolved significantly over the years. The course was extended to 18 holes in 1991 by Leonard Fisher, before being rebranded in 2014 from Windwhistle to the Cricket St Thomas we know today.
The layout offers a true challenge for golfers of all abilities, with a variety of demanding holes and ever-changing landscapes. The course is consistently recognised as one of the best-presented in the South West, thanks to the tireless work of the greenkeeping team and even a fleet of robotic mowers that were busy maintaining the pristine fairways throughout the day.
Add in the outstanding panoramic views across the surrounding countryside, and you’ve got a venue that delivers both visually and competitively.
Weather & Conditions
The day brought cool and cloudy conditions, though that didn’t stop plenty of golfers stepping out in shorts, a true sign of committed golfers enjoying their round regardless of the season!
🏆 Tournament Highlights
There was some fantastic golf played across the field, but the standout performance came from local knowledge and consistency.
Round of the Day went to Allan Guyett & Leroy Simmonds, who posted an excellent 44 points, including a strong 23 points on the back nine to seal their victory.
A special mention also goes to Oliver Cooper, who recorded two 2s, earning himself a double share of the 2’s pot totalling £51.
And for style points…
Best Dressed went to Gary Porter, who looked the part and took home a Royal & Awesome voucher.
